Catherine opened her front door and walked quietly inside. The warm, cozy feeling of being in her own home washed over her, and calmed the anxious feelings that had filled her since she left earlier that night for the party. Catherine was too caught up in her own thoughts to realize her twin brother, Christian Blake, was sitting on the couch. "Who brought you home?" Her twin brother asked, referring to the truck that he had seen out in the driveway.
Catherine jumped softly from her brother's question, bringing her back into reality. "Oh, um just a friend." She lied through her teeth and avoided her brother's gaze. Catherine would not classify Rafe Cameron as a friend, but he was no stranger either.
Christian let a low chuckle escape his lips as he gave his twin sister a look. "Oh, come on, Cath. Who was he? Do I know him?" He asked with an amused smirk dancing on his lips. Christian knew how shy his sister was, and the sight of a guy dropping her off was something he had never expected.
Catherine sighed, knowing there was no point in trying to lie to her brother. Christian knew her better than anyone else. "Fine." Catherine groaned as she plopped down onto the couch next to Christian. "It was Rafe Cameron." She muttered, still avoiding eye contact with her brother.
Christian's eyes grew slightly as his lips parted, his expression becoming one of pure shock. "Rafe Cameron?" He questioned, his tone filled with shock and confusion. "Rafe Cameron?" He asked again, unable to wrap his head around the idea that the Kook prince gave his shy sister a ride home.
Catherine nodded as she glanced over at her brother. "Yeah, he offered me a ride." She explained, even though she could not explain the reasoning behind why Rafe offered her a ride.
Catherine's explanation confused Christian even more. "Rafe Cameron offered you a ride home and didn't expect anything in return?" His eyebrows furrowed deeper as his confusion grew stronger after Catherine nodded her head to his question.
"Yeah, I know." Catherine agreed as she laid her head back against the couch. "I was going to walk home, but Rafe insisted on giving me a ride."
"The one time I have to miss a party Rafe Cameron offers you a ride home." Christian scoffed in disbelief.
"What's this I hear about a guy driving Cath home?" The eldest Blake sibling, Cassidy, asked as she walked into the living room. Cassidy took a seat next to Catherine, wrapping her arm around her little sister. "So who is the guy?" She teased as she raised her eyebrows dramatically.
"Just a guy who was gave me a ride home." Catherine rolled her eyes. "It doesn't mean anything."
Christian let out a scoff before speaking. "Not just anyone." He began to explain to their older sister. "Rafe Cameron, the biggest dick in the Outer Banks, and of course the time I miss this interaction I'm picking your ass up from the airport." He groaned.
Catherine let out a sigh. "Look, it's not a big deal." She muttered as she stood up from the couch and began to walk towards the stairs, not wanting to talk about Rafe with her two siblings anymore. "Goodnight you guys." She called out before she began to walk up the stairs to her room.

The ringing of Catherine's phone made Catherine jump softly as she read her book. She rolled over and grabbed her phone from her bedside table. She saw that Melanie was calling, and she pressed the answer button and brought the phone up to her ear. "Hello?"
"Catherine Anne Blake!" Melanie screamed through the phone. "Why didn't you tell me Rafe Cameron took you home last night?" She questioned.
Catherine sighed. "Melanie, it's not that big of a deal."
"Oh, it most certainly is a big deal!"
"Who even told you about it?"
"Topper and Kelce, who happened to have invited the both of us to the bonfire they're having tonight at Kelce's house." Melanie explained. "And before you try to protest, you're going. End of story."
"Mel, I would really rather just stay home." Catherine begged, already knowing her social battery was dead from the night prior. "I mean, Cassidy is home from college."
"Too bad, you're going and I'm already about to head over to your house. See you in a few minutes, Cath." Melanie explained before she hung up the phone.
Catherine sat her phone down back onto the bedside table before letting out a quiet groan. She slowly sat up in her bed, already silently dreading having to go to the stupid bonfire. She reluctantly got out of the comfort of her bed and made her way downstairs. Just as Catherine made it to downstairs, the door bell rang, signaling that Melanie had arrived.
Catherine walked over to the front door and opened it, revealing a smiling Melanie. "Tell me everything." She ordered as she walked into the Blake residence.
"Nothing special." Catherine answered as she shut the front door and followed Melanie to the living room. "Rafe just offered me a ride home, he drove me home, and that's it." She explained further as she took a seat next to Melanie on the couch.
Melanie turned her head to look at Catherine, her expression puzzled. "And Rafe didn't try anything? Anything at all?" She questioned, her tone filled with disbelief.
"That's what I said!" Christian yelled from the kitchen as he began to walk to the living room. "There's absolutely no way Rafe Cameron was just being nice." He claimed as he sat down in a chair.
"He was just being nice." Catherine mumbled, keeping her gaze on the carpet on the floor.
"Bullshit!" Both Christian and Melanie exclaimed at Catherine's words. "There is no way Rafe Cameron was just being nice." Christian reiterated.
"You're friends with him!" Catherine argued.
"Yeah, and I know Rafe, he's not the perfect gentleman." Christian rolled his eyes. "Anyways, are you two going to Kelce's bonfire tonight?" He questioned as he looked at his twin sister and Melanie.
"Yes, we're going." Melanie answered before Catherine could say no. Catherine glared at her blonde best friend, but reluctantly nodded in agreement that the two were going.
"Alright, then us three can ride together." Christian said as he stood up from the couch. "It starts at seven and it's already three, so you two go get ready." Christian started to walk towards the stairs and then up to his room.
"Come on, Cath." Melanie stood up from the couch and gently pulled Catherine's arm, forcing her to stand up from the couch. "Let's go get ready." She pulled Catherine up to her room. Once the two were in her room, Melanie turned to Catherine. "So, I have to ask, do you like Rafe?" She questioned.
"I barely know him." Catherine scoffed as she walked over to her closet and began to look through her clothes to find something to wear. "Besides, it's not like him and I have anything in common." Catherine explained, but Rafe had been in the back of her mind since he dropped her off the night before.
"Yeah, that's true." Melanie nodded in agreement. "But still, for Rafe Cameron to give you a ride home and not try anything is so not like him."
"Maybe he just felt like being nice." Catherine tried to reason as she grabbed a black tank top and a pair of jean shorts.
"Oh come on, Cath. Rafe Cameron isn't someone who is just randomly nice." Melanie argued as she grabbed her clothes from her duffle bag. "But enough about Rafe, let's get ready."
