Ah yes, a wonderful day! The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky! And I was half dead.

Wonderful right!

Yeah, no it wasn't. Trust me, bleeding from your eyes is NOT fun. And neither is having a bunch of broken bones.

Not fun.

But you know, tis the life of I. What am I? Good question! That I sadly can not answer at the moment due to the fact I'm running for my life!

From what you ask? Another good question! Have a cookie!

Let's see, how can I explain this...

Alright here, imagine a lion! Then give this lion a machine gun/scorpion tail! Oh yeah and if that's not enough give him the face and voice of a French man, objectively the worst part of him. Minus the claws. The claws hurt.

But why did he have to be french?

Yep! You got it pictured now? Great, cause now I've got to run faster.

I felt something wiz by my head, I couldn't see it but I knew damn well what it was. That damn monsters thorns.

"Gods! "Run to the top of the hill", they said, "Me and Luke will hold them off" they said!" Another thorn wizzed by my head. "Shit!"

Oh yeah, and if it doesn't help enough that I'm pretty sure half my bones are broken, I'm carrying a past out goat boy! Oh yeah and I had to drag a girl named Annabeth with me. Very. Very. Fun.

Gods, and to think a couple weeks ago we were traveling and having fun like in those books mom used to (begrudgingly) read us.

I couldn't tell how much farther we had to walk, or more realistically, run, due to the fancy and fun fact of, you know, no sight?

The Manticore was probably gaining ground.

"Annabeth, how far away is the manticore?" I asked the girl running beside me.

"I- I don't know..." The girl responded, "I don't want to look..."

"Well that's nice, I'll look for you." I replied sarcastically.

"You will?" Annabeths voice sounded hopeful.

"Obviously not! Look annabeth, you have to look, I can't and neither can grover."

There was silence for a bit, except the sound of our fear racing up this (suddenly very large) hill. Until I heard her voice again.

"He's about 35 feet away and walking slower than before." Annabeths voice was shaky, she had just dealt with the cyclops so I wasn't suprised she was scared, but at the same time she's not the one bleeding right now.

I turned around and dropped grover on the ground. "Alright, annabeth point my arm at where he is!"

"Huh? Alright?"

I felt Annabeths hands grab my wrist and lift it until it was straight forward, then she moved it a bit to the right.

"Alright, it's pointing towards the monster."

"Thanks, please bring Grover over the hill, I'll take care of this one."

"H-huh?! B-but your injured!"

"Don't worry annabeth, I'll be ok. I'll always be ok."

I wanted to pat her head, to reassure her but I couldn't, my hand needed to be in line with the manticore.

I waited for till I couldn't hear the footsteps of Annabeth.

"Alright, let's show this frenchie a light show!"

I felt the familiar sparking cover my hand as I charged up (hopefully) my last attack on this beast.

The air around me started to heat up, it should be ready.

I thrusted my had forward as I felt the Lightning Bolt I had made leave my hand and travel down the hill.

"Did it hi-"

Before I could finish my sentence I heard a loud familiar screech of a monster being stuck by lightning.

"Never mind."

I turned around and sprinted up the hill, faster than before, as fast as I could.

I felt the start of a decline and slowed down a bit, I didn't want to run into someone.

"Is anyone here?!" I screamed as loud as I can, not stoping my run.

Until I did the one thing I didn't want to do, I ran into someone. It was weird, cause it didn't feel like I ran into someone but he talked.

"Oh, Pardon me, but I don- What the hell happened to your eyes?!" The person said.

"Not important! My sister and friend are coming up the hill right now! They need help!"

"Oh, you must be wit-"

"It doesn't matter who I'm with! My friends need help up the—"

Suddenly the air felt hot. A familiar heat. Stronger than what I could do, much, much stronger.

I looked up to the hill, somehow I knew... Thaila and Luke were up there. Luke was running towards me, but Thaila wasn't moving...

Maybe father was sending a thunder bolt to help her?!

Somehow, I seemed to forget the cruel, cruel, cruel way the gods felt it was necessary to go about "helping people."

The lightning that I felt before it hit, the strike that deep down... I knew wasn't for the horde of monsters that was chasing us. The lightning bolt came down fast, striking where Thaila stood.

Thaila... was no longer there.

In her place, a pine tree. Don't ask how I know... I just... did.
