The golden skies of Heaven stretched endlessly above Emily as she fluttered her six wings in short bursts, hovering delicately in the air. The peaceful realm around her was filled with light, warmth, and the sweet hum of celestial music—a perfect backdrop to her usual excitement. Her silver skin shimmered in the radiant glow, her periwinkle gown flowing like liquid light as she practiced her flight, moving gracefully through the air with the kind of joy she was known for.
But today wasn't just a day for practice. Today, she was supposed to meet Lute.
A shiver of anticipation ran down Emily's spine as she thought about the fierce, uncompromising leader of the Exorcists. Lute was nothing like her—where Emily was bubbly, friendly, and always smiling, Lute was stern, serious, and radiated a kind of authority that made even other angels wary.
"Lute!" Emily's voice rang out with the sweetness of a songbird as she descended, her wings folding neatly behind her. She spotted the tall, imposing figure of Lute standing near the training grounds, her dark cloak swirling around her like a storm cloud. The sight of her always made Emily feel a mixture of awe and... something else. Something deeper.
"Emily," Lute's voice was smooth and cold, her eyes sharp as she turned to face the seraphim angel. "You're late."
Emily landed softly, her silver skin glowing as she beamed at Lute. "Sorry! I got a little carried away with the skies. They're so pretty today, don't you think?"
Lute's gaze didn't soften. "Pretty skies won't prepare you for what's ahead," she replied sternly, her cloak shifting as she crossed her arms. "You're here for training, not sightseeing."
Emily's smile faltered slightly, but the excitement never left her eyes. "Right! Training. I'm ready. Teach me everything."
Lute's eyes narrowed, studying Emily's eager expression. She could see the bubbling excitement, the energy that flowed through Emily like a never-ending fountain of light. Lute's voice dropped, low and commanding. "We'll see how ready you are."
With a flick of her wrist, Lute summoned a set of celestial chains, glowing with divine power. They wrapped around her hand like living strands of light, pulsing with energy. Emily's eyes widened in surprise as she watched the chains appear.
"W-what are those for?" Emily asked, her voice tinged with curiosity as she stepped closer.
"These," Lute began, her voice smooth and authoritative, "are to remind you of discipline. If you are to train under me, you must learn control. Submission. Obedience."
Emily's heart skipped a beat, her wings fluttering involuntarily as Lute's words settled over her. Control, submission... those were serious words, and Lute didn't seem like the kind of angel who used them lightly.
"I... I understand," Emily said softly, though there was a flicker of something else in her bright blue eyes. She wasn't sure what to make of the situation, but something about the way Lute spoke sent a shiver down her spine.
"Good," Lute replied, her voice steady as she stepped closer. With a swift movement, she gestured toward Emily. "Turn around."
Emily blinked, her breath catching slightly as she processed the command. "O-okay," she murmured, her voice soft as she obeyed, turning her back to Lute. Her wings twitched slightly, unsure of what was to come, but there was a growing sense of excitement mixed with the anticipation.
Lute stepped forward, her tall frame towering over the smaller seraphim as she reached out and placed the glowing chains around Emily's wrists, binding them together with a quick, deliberate motion. The light from the chains was warm against Emily's skin, the sensation both strange and exhilarating as the energy pulsed through her body.
