So I changed a small part of my last chapter. At the very end I originally put that Danielle read the note, but I changed it to where she didn't read it, and dropped it before she could.
Anyway i'm gonna be asking questions at the end of the chapter about the story, and I love reading y'alls answers and wanna know your thoughts about whats going on.
I also won't be editing this chapter along with the next couple because I'm so eager to finally get updates out, but i'll edit them after I get some out, so excuse my mistakes.
Enjoy.
-------------------------------------
I peered down at the little body that felt so weightless in my arms. She was so little. As I looked at her face, with her little eyes closed and her expression monotone, I felt at peace. No words could describe how I felt looking down at my world. Something I made.
Autumn Carmen Alsina was finally here. Other than her being very little, she was perfectly healthy. And holding her in my arms, actually looking at my first child, was so surreal. Words can't even describe the feeling. I was in love.
I could tell August was, too. Our friends and family left a while go, leaving just us too. And as he sat in a chair that was scooted to the bed, he watched our daughter in amazement. He was speechless, but I knew how he felt at this moment.
Without word, I held her out to him, knowing it was his turn to hold her. He slowly accepted by reaching his arms out and carefully retrieving her. As he looked down at her whilst rocking her I noticed his eyes watering.
"She's beautiful, isn't she?" I asked.
He nodded. "She looks just like you."
"I know. I can't tell if she has my nose or yours though."
He grinned at the sleeping bundle and mumbled "i love you", which made me smile. And then he continued.
"I'a always be there for you, no matter what. I will never let anything bad happen to you and I will never leave you. I promise."
After a few seconds he looked up and caught me smiling at him. He smiled back and kissed my forehead.

I was finally able to leave the hospital two days after giving birth, and boy was I excited to finally get home and introduce Autumn to the house. August was excited as well, and when he picked us up today and drove us, he smiled and talked more than he has in a while. He fell in love the moment he saw her and I believe his daughter being bored cured his feelings, at least somewhat.
"I wish you didn't have to work later" I said with a sigh. Even though August missed work because of the mental effect Melvin had with him, he was able to reason with his boss, telling him what happened and asking if he could still take family leave for his daughter. His boss was reluctant at first but fortunately decided that August could take a few weeks off starting next week. Thankfully, Sheila was coming over later to meet Autumn and help me take care of her while he was gone.
"I'm sorry, It's my fault..."
"No, don't go saying that. You were going through a hard time, you needed to be off."
"I put my health before my family. It was selfish of me."
I didn't think it was selfish at all, but I didn't answer. A moment of silence brushed over us before I broke it with a new subject.
"I bet she's gonna like me more" I said jokingly.
He let out a fake laugh. "Yea, sure, ok."
"Wanna bet?"
