Diane woke to the warm sunlight peeking through her curtains, feeling refreshed after a restful night's sleep. As she shook off the remnants of sleep, her mind drifted to Aaron, replaying the highlights of their magical date. Though it had been a few days since their last date, the way he made her laugh, the way his eyes sparkled in the moonlight, and the softness of his kiss still lingered in her thoughts, filling her with bubbly excitement for their next encounter.
Reluctant to leave the cozy haven of her bed, Diane lingered, savoring the warmth and tranquility. But reality soon intruded, and the weight of her packed schedule came flooding back. Today's daunting to-do list – meetings with a potential buyer, the Bellezza Beauty presentation, a therapy session and a host of other responsibilities swiftly eclipsed her pleasant morning reverie, replacing thoughts of Aaron with a growing sense of urgency.
With a sigh, Diane tossed off the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Her feet sank into the plush rug as she stood, stretching her arms overhead. Just as Diane finished stretching, a gentle knock on the door broke the silence.
"Cora?" Diane called out, smiling.
The door swung open, and Cora breezed in, carrying a warm smile. "Good morning, sunshine! Breakfast is ready downstairs. I made your favorite – freshly squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs, and a toasted blueberry bagel with cream cheese."
Diane's stomach growled in anticipation. "You're a lifesaver, Cora, especially since I've got a crazy day ahead."
Cora's eyes sparkled. "I know, I saw your schedule." She paused, studying Diane's face. "You're beaming with happiness - I see Aaron has been keeping a smile on your face."
Diane's cheeks flushed, but she couldn't help the grin spreading across her face. "Maybe just a little."
Cora leaned in, intrigued. "So, have you two made plans to see each other again soon? You're clearly smitten."
Diane's smile faltered for a moment before she replied, "We've been talking about it. Nothing's set in stone yet. We're just both so busy, it's kinda hard to get our schedules to sync."
Cora's curiosity got the better of her. "So, what's he like when you're chatting one-on-one? Still charming, I presume?"
Diane laughed, shaking her head. "You have no idea. He's witty, thoughtful...and persistent." Her eyes sparkled, betraying her excitement.
Cora's eyes widened. "Persistent, huh? Sounds like he's serious about you. Do you think he'll make it official soon?"
Diane's cheeks warmed again. "I don't know...maybe. We're taking things slow, getting to know each other. After all, we've only had one date." She reminded her. "And let's not forget I'm still in the process of getting a divorce, which, mind you, I have yet to mention to him. For all we know, he may never want to see me again if he finds out."
Cora's expression turned thoughtful. That's a big conversation to have, but honesty is crucial. When do you plan on sharing that with him?" She paused, studying Diane's face. "
"I honestly have no idea." Diane sighed, her tone almost defeated. "When I'm with him everything feels so perfect. It would feel like such a gut punch bringing up that mess. I don't know, I just wish things were different."
Cora's gaze locked onto Diane's, her expression empathetic. "You're worried about his reaction, aren't you?"
"I really am." Diane said, feeling devastated by the possibility that what she has with Aaron could be over before it really even starts.
Cora placed a reassuring hand on Diane's shoulder. "Well, I personally don't think you have anything to worry about." She proclaimed confidently. "If and when the conversation comes up, if he's genuinely interested, your divorce won't change his mind."
