harry's POV.............
As I apparated into the heart of New York City, I found myself struck by the freezing air and overwhelmed by the commotion. Suddenly, my mind races back to when I was 14, sitting in professor Lupin's classroom with Addilyn as she was telling me about the city when her mother died. Now, I knew what she had meant.
I shivered and glanced down nervously at the scrap piece of paper Vik had given me with Addilyn's address on it. i walked down the streets admiring the Christmas decorations and lights. I approach the apartment building thats was written on the paper and stepped inside and waited for the elevator. I got to the 12th floor like the paper said and started down the hallway looking for apartment number 1093.
I stood in front of the door looking from the gold numbers on the door to the address on the paper. This had to be it.
Addilyn.I shoved the paper in my jacket pocket, took a deep breath, and knocked 3 times on her door. Nothing. about 20 seconds later the door flew open and I was greeted with a handgun aimed straight at me. Every muscle into body went tight as I stared down the barrel. I froze. All I saw was the gun.
Then, however, the gun dropped down to the owner's side. "Well, if it isn't harry potter." said a voice I knew so well. I looked up at Addilyn and smiled. "damn, you had me worried there with that thing." we both laughed. She stepped aside and I walked into her quaint apartment. She set her gun back in its place. "So how are you?" she asked as we hugged each other. She still smelled of jasmine. "great, yourself?"
"pretty good thanks."
"it's great to see you again."
"you too. have a seat. can I get you anything?"
"oh, no I'm good thanks."
we sat down on the couch. god, she was still so beautiful. Her long curls falling over her shoulders and down her back, her hazel eyes catching the sunlight, even after all these years, I still almost couldn't breath looking at her.
"so what are you up to these days?" she questioned. "I'm an auror. how about you, what do you do?"
"I'm a homicide detective."
"sorry, a what?"
"It's essentially a muggle auror." I nodded.
"what brought you to the city?" I asked.she paused for a moment. "okay, so remember how my mother died?" I nodded. she continued,"so it turns out she didn't die of a drug overdose and, in fact, I found out she was murdered right here in New York City. I left, came here, and became a homicide detective to try and solve her case and find her killer. I have her file here and I usually work on her case in between my others."
"that explains the gun." I said trying to lighten the mood. she laughed. "yea sorry about that."Addie and I talked the night away catching up with each other. I learned about Lupin being her real father and about her new little brother who was now 12 and in his second year at hogwarts. I caught her up with the rest of our friends back home and before I knew it, it was pretty late.
"alright, well, I should get going, it was great to see you Addilyn."
"hey, wait, why don't you stay the night?"
"okay"
we crawled into her bed and instinctively, I wrapped my arms around her waist before I realized what I was doing. however, she didn't object, and rested her head on my chest. I fell asleep the way I always dreamed I would...
