At about halfway through the night, Cass was woken up by a sound - she assumed it was the raccoons scavenging in the garbage late at night, but there was something peculiar about it. She felt a prescence, and a strange one at that - none like she's ever felt before. It almost had an alien, otherworldly feel to it - Helix Gates had many acclaimed alien encounters before, but this was the first time Cass had experienced one.

Cass got up carefully, cautious not to wake her father up. She tip toed out of the area where the other homeless slept. Once out, she ran towards the source of the prescence. As she got closer, she could see something glowing - it was an aura. It mainly contained a lavender colour, but as she got closer, she could see a little aqua mixed in there, too.

She arrived at the source of the prescence - a garbage can. Laying in it was a dark purple, alien like cat with luminous aqua ear and tail tips - Cass also noticed that the cat had three eyes. She had never seen anything like this before . . a scientific discovery like this could make her famous. Then, she noticed the cat's collar - large, gold and bulky with a very large ruby at the center of it. Cass' eyes widened. Something like this would make her rich - not rich enough to buy a house, but rich enough to provide for all of the homeless. She reached desperately for the collar, her hands lighting up from the aura of the cat - but suddently, the collar flipped over, showing a large set of slightly yellowed teeth. Cass gasped and backed up, ready to run away, but before she could, the teeth opened up and out came a very long tongue - it wrapped around her wrist and the cold slobber from it made goosebumps travel up her arm. The cat's eyes suddenly opened - they were pale green with no pupils.

"Gah! I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Cass exclaimed. She was scared. She sensed that the cat was scared as well - she could sense fear and other emotions in people and animals just as well as a dog or any other animal could.

The tongue slipped away rapidly - the teeth of the collar clamped shut and it flipped around, showing the luminous ruby from before. The cat's eyes returned to normal, still wide, but with pupils this time. Cass could sense that the cat was scared - it obviously wasn't from Helix Gates. It was cold, shivering and didn't have much body heat coming from it at all. Cass' hand approaced the cat, cautious of the force that could unravel upon her. She touched the cat's fur - it felt like any other cat's fur; soft, fluffy, but this cat's fur made her hand tingle a little. She picked it up gently, holding it in her arms and ever so close to her chest so the cat would keep warm. She walked back to where the other homeless were sleeping. She crawled back into bed very quietly, trying not to wake her father up and still keeping the cat warm.

The next morning, the cat was gone.
