Maya's POV
I crawled through Riley's window to find her bed already made. "That's weird. She's usually still sleeping when I get here," I thought to myself. i opened her door and headed down to the Matthews' dining room, I saw Topanga, Cory, and Auggie eating oatmeal as if everything was normal. "Good morning, Maya," Topanga greeted me calmly. "Um, morning. Do you know where Riley is?" I asked, feeling confused. Mr. and Mrs. Matthews both looked at me. "She didn't tell you?" Cory asked, bewildered. "Tell me what?" I asked, growing anxious. "Sorry, Maya. Riley had cheerleading practice this morning. She has to get up early for that," Topanga explained. "Oh...yeah, she didn't tell me that," I murmured.
As I started to leave, I heard Topanga's voice call out, " Maya, would you like to join us for breakfast?" Tho I hadn't eaten breakfast this morning, it felt strange to be here without Riley. "Oh, come on, girl, we're not that scary, are we?" Topanga chuckled to herself. I hesitated before sitting down. Topanga brought me a bowl, and I stirred it around before bringing it to my mouth. Not gonna lie, I had never had better oatmeal, tho it's a low bar. "So, what's new?" Cory asked, trying to break the silence. I wasn't going to tell him the truth without talking to Riley first. "Not much," I said softly. "Me and Ava are getting remarried at recess tomorrow,For all are frends" Auggie stated proudly. Topanga just sighed, "dat's my boy," Cory chuckled. I chuckled dryly, trying to fit in with the picture-perfect family.
Walking into class, I see Riley in her cheer outfit talking with Lucas. They officially became a couple a week ago after the whole triangle situation. I should be happy for Riley, she found her love, while all I got was a long game. I just felt weird seeing her with him. "Morning, Riles," I say, putting on a smile. "Peaches!" she exclaimed, shooting up and giving me a tight embrace. I hope this never changes; her embrace was so warm, so safe. "I'm sorry I forgot to tell you about cheer practice," she started to spew out words. "Riles, it's fine. By the way, have you ever told your mother her oatmeal is great?" I said with a smile. "Oh, and can we go to the bay window after school? There's something I want to talk to you about," I asked. "Oh, I'm sorry, I can't. Lucas and I are going out. Can it wait?" she asked, her eyes filled with pure happiness. "Oh, uh, yeah, sure," she smiled at me again before heading to her seat. Mister Matthews came in as I took my seat.
A/N sorry this chapter is so short but plz understand that for the past few months, i have been writing about different characters with different personalities. I'll post at least once a week due to me having another book I'm close to finishing. have a good day
