I followed Tracy as we came upon a group of five. Three guys and two girls. The all seemed very different.
"Guys, this is..", Tracy paused and looked at me." Sorry, what's your name again?", she whispered.
Was she really asking me this?! I looked at her annoyed, "Sydney."
"Guys, this is Sydney", she said giving me an apologetic look.
I waved slightly, eyeing them all.
Tracy started off by pointing to a guy with dark brown hair. His skin was carmel, and looked very smooth. "This is Kendall." He was really attractive and I liked the way his long eyelashes surrounded his light brown eyes.
"Next is Leo, then Niall, Cleo and Anastasia; but she goes by Ana." Anastasia's name didn't seem to fit her at all. Her name reminded me of a bubbly, bright princess. But I could tell she was more reserved, quiet and mysterious ( if that was even the right word to describe her).
Niall turned towards me, "So, I heard you're the presidents daughter, huh?" I nodded
"Yup, how'd you know?"
He gave me that, 'Really?!' look. "Word travels fast around here, you better get used to it." Him saying that made me feel a bit out of place, and it made me wonder about future happenings.
Next Cleo came over and sat next to me, seeming eager. "I saw you walk in with Harry, oh god, I can just imagine the things he could do to me!" Her sudden outburst caught me off guard.
"Sorry", she laughed. "But I'm serious, he drives me insane." She looked at me in all seriousness.
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Umm, okay?!" Cleo just laughed at my reaction, " You must, be innocent and inexperienced, huh?" I wasn't sure if I should've taken it as an insult, or what.
She didn't let me answer, she just continued. "It's ok, I was twelve." I was shocked, no offense to her. Everyone's different.
"But, I'm not twelve." I was confused by her logic. I was way past twelve. Eighteen, almost nineteen to be exact.
Cleo reminded me again, "It's okay if you're a late bloome-"
"I'm not a late bloomer, I'm just not someone who sleeps around like you!" Cleo didn't seem too fond of what I just said. Instead of replying she just got up and walked away. Everyone else at the table just looked at me, so I took that as my cue to go find Harry.
Not even two seconds after I left the table, foot steps were traveling behind me. It was Kendall. "Where are you off too?", he asked as he followed along. "To find Harry, I didn't care staying at the table any longer."
He chuckled,"Oh, haha are you talking about Cleo?" I nodded. "Well don't mind her. Yeah she sleeps around and yeah she doesn't care. But whenever some one says it to her face she gets all defensive like she doesn't and it's shocking for her to hear, I guess. It's weird because she can admit she sleeps around but she doesn't want people to, I don't know, say it to her face. I'm not sure if any of that made sense but I hope you get what I tried to say." He explains.
"Yeah oddly enough, it makes sense. Now where does that door lead to?" I asked as I pointed to the door Harry went through, minutes earlier.
"Many places, but Harry went through there with staff I presume?" I turned to him, "Yeah." I answered, "Then they probably went to a meeting, or towards the offices for something obviously important."
Now it made me think what they were having a "meeting" about and why they left so urgently in the first place. Stopping to think, I leaned against the door. While gathering my thoughts, the door was forcefully pushed open, slamming me int he back of the head.
"Who was fucking leaning on the door?!" From what it sounded like, it seemed to be Harry shouting, clearly annoyed and irritated. My hand found it's way way to the back of my head, rubbing the now sore spot.
As he looked behind the door to see who he hit, our eyes met and there seemed to be no look of remorse or apology evident. "You shouldn't have been standing there", was all he said.
I grabbed Kendall's hand pulling him away from the scene and began walking towards a place where I thought there would be ice. "He didn't even apologize, the asshole!" I wasn't too mad about getting hit on the head, but I was annoyed that he didn't apologize. He was probably too stuck up his own ass to say sorry. It's not that hard...Come on now!
"Can you please, take me to get some ice?", I asked once realizing I had no clue where to go. Once again the place was huge, and confusing and I had a feeling it would take some getting used to. "Yeah", was all Kendall said as he pulled me in a different direction than what we were going in.
The pain in the back of my head started to throb. I didn't think it was hit that hard then, but maybe after walking for ten minutes it got worse. Soon enough we came upon a glass door, with a sign that read "HEALING CENTER". As I stepped in a draft of cold air whisked pass us and out the door. I never understood why doctor's offices and hospitals were always cold, it was actually annoying.
The lady at the front desk, wearing blue glasses invited us in. "Kendall, how are ya? What can I get for the two of you?" She was so bubbly and cute, it would seem impossible not like her. "Pretty good Caron, this is Sydney." He mentioned gesturing towards me. "She was hit in the back of the head and needs ice." Caron's face had a shocked expression, probably wishing it was more server than just a 'bump on the head'. Who knows, I could have a concussion.
Caron walked through a door, to a smaller room which had multiple freezers. As she walked back out with an ice pack in hand, she stopped at a little shelf grabbing a lollipop then handing me both, "Here you are, Ms.Sydney!" I kindly took both and yelled back "Thank you Caron!", as we walked out into the warmer hallway.
And to my dismay, there was Harry, trudging down the corridor. I knew he was angry, possibly jealous even. But I wanted to play with him a little. "What's wrong Harry?", I yelled out to him as he approached us. He gave me a look signifying that he already knew what I was up to. "Just tell me.", I retorted. His eyes gestured to Kendall, harry obviously not wanting to talk about this with him around.
"Oh, Kendall? Well he's not leaving so just tell me already!"
"Fine, I'm sorry I hit you in the head with a door and didn't apologize. But I'm pissed that you came here with him!", He said gesturing to the 'HEALTH CENTER', then Kendall. I knew this would rile him up, but it was just to the 'HEALTH CENTER' "Really Harry? Is that it? You're just jealous? " He looked up, directly at me when I said the word "jealous".
"Sydney, I'm not jealous!" Harry looked directly at Kendall. "Harry you-" I was interrupted. "Harry, what the hell man? You basically said you were not even thirty seconds ago!", Kendall protested.
An aggravated expression appeared across his features. "Now why the hell are you talking to me? Because you need to fucking leave!", Harry took a couple steps closer towards Kendall. " No one wants you here!", I stepped in between the two of them, sensing something would soon happen. As I tried to push Harry back, my strength was no match as he kept trudging forward. I turned my head towards Kendall and mouthed "GO!", knowing Harry would soon do something he'd regret.
Kendall took off in the other direction, and it was just Harry and I standing in the middle of the corridor. "You're full of shit, you know that?", I asked not wanting to make eye contact with him. " I'm pretty aware, sweetheart."
The effect Harry had on me was odd. One simple word that would typically be used for younger kids, drove me over the edge. I felt my face heat up, my knees felt loose and I definitely felt my heart beat faster. And I didn't like it one bit!
