After the procedure was done, Ava was visibly more relaxed, her new cast resting in her lap. She still held Alastor's hand, her earlier anxiety ebbing away now that the worst was over. Lucifer gave her a warm smile, leaning in to kiss her forehead.
"You did amazing, sweetheart," Lucifer said softly, brushing some hair back from her face. "We're really proud of you."
Ava managed a small smile, looking up at both her fathers. "Can we get ice cream now?" she asked, her voice still a little shaky but hopeful.
"Of course," Alastor replied with a soft chuckle, stroking her hair gently. "You've earned it."
As they gathered their things to leave the hospital, Adam showed up at the door, his expression a mixture of guilt and hesitation. He had been pacing outside, waiting for news, unsure of how to approach after the earlier tension.
"Hey," Adam said quietly, rubbing the back of his neck. "How's she doing?"
Alastor's eyes softened when he saw Adam. He glanced down at Ava, who was still holding his hand, then back at Adam. "She's alright," Alastor said, his voice calmer now. "They've set her arm, and she's being really brave about it."
Adam exhaled in relief, stepping into the room a little further. "I'm... really sorry, Al," he said, his voice full of regret. "I never wanted her to get hurt. I should've been paying closer attention."
Alastor sighed, his earlier anger having cooled down since the hospital ordeal. He glanced at Lucifer, who gave him an encouraging nod. "I was angry earlier," Alastor admitted. "But it wasn't your fault. Accidents happen, and I was just scared for her."
Adam looked at Alastor with a mix of understanding and relief. "I get it. I'm sorry for not being more careful."
Alastor gave him a small, tired smile. "And I'm sorry for snapping at you. I overreacted."
Adam nodded, the tension finally easing between them. "Thanks, man. I really care about her too."
Lucifer, always one to keep the peace, clapped Adam on the shoulder with a grin. "Alright, apologies are out of the way. How about you join us for ice cream? Ava's been looking forward to it."
Ava perked up at the mention of ice cream and gave Adam a small smile. "You should come too."
Adam's face brightened at the invitation. "I'd love to."

A short while later, they were all seated at a cozy ice cream parlor near the hospital. Ava had chosen her favorite flavor—strawberry—and was happily munching away, her earlier pain a distant memory now that she was surrounded by her family. Alastor and Lucifer sat on either side of her, watching with fond smiles as she enthusiastically enjoyed her treat.
Adam, sitting across from them, had his own cone but kept sneaking glances at Ava, clearly relieved to see her in better spirits. Alastor caught his eye and gave him a nod, silently confirming that everything was alright between them.
Lucifer, ever the joker, leaned in and whispered to Ava, "You know, next time, we're putting bubble wrap around you before you go skateboarding."
Ava giggled, licking her cone. "No way, Daddy. I'd look silly."
Ava just rolled her eyes, playfully exasperated by her dads' overprotectiveness. But in the warmth of the ice cream parlor, surrounded by her family, everything felt safe again.
