The Wolf and Researcher

Part 7

Katsuki ran through the forest in his wolf form, contemplating if this was a good idea or not, but before he could second guess himself and turn around, the idiots he was here to see were around him, welcoming him back. 

“Hey, man! It’s great to see you! We thought for certain you would be with your pregnant mate right now getting ready for your pups. Oh, and congrats!” Eijiro says with a huge smile, his black tail wagging rapidly behind him. 

“Ya, nice job! That was quite a show last night.” Hanta, the other black wolf says, smirking knowingly at him. Katsuki growls at him, glaring him down into submission. 

“Don’t even think about going near my mate.” Katsuki growls, walking away from the duo, the other 2 chasing after him. 

“So why are you here?” Denki, a blonde wolf with black highlights in his fur, asks, coming to stand beside the much larger golden wolf. 

“I need…advice…” Katsuki grumbles, not looking at them. 

“No way, really?!” Mina, a brown wolf with pink tufts of fur, asks with a smirk. 

“Are you losers going to help me or not?!” 

“Chill out, dude, of course we are going to help you! So, what's the problem?” Eijiro asks, sitting down in front of him. 

“She’s mad at me because she didn’t have a choice or whatever, and that I removed her birth control implant without permission then bred her. Now I have to figure out how to court her and earn her trust before our pups are born and she leaves!” The more he talked, the more upset Katsuki became. He didn’t understand any of this. Why did he need to prove himself if he already did and already pupped her? 

‘Must be a stupid human thing.’ He grumbles, sitting down heavily. 

“Well, she’s not like us.” Mina says softly, trying to remember about the last female human that was mated to one of their pack. 

“Grooming and scenting always works with my mate. Oh, maybe bring her a fresh kill!” Denki says thoughtfully, thinking about his own pregnant mate, Jirou, who was back at the pack's cave resting. “Wait, Hanta, isn’t your mate a human too?” The blonde wolf asks, remembering that important info. 

“Oh ya! Shoto lives down the road I think from the Wildlife Research cabin. But I don’t know how much help he’ll be to a female mate?” Hanta says. He had mated Shoto a couple of years ago after the bi-colored male had stumbled upon the injured wolf and nursed him back to health, the pair falling in love along the way. 

“Chiyo!” Mina suddenly shouts, startling the males. “She was a mate to one of the elders that passed last winter! She even had a couple of litters of pups and is a doctor! She would be the perfect person to help!” 

“Mina’s right, if anyone can help it’s her!” Eijiro says, beaming at his mate, going over to lick her between the eyes and scent her. 

“Worth a shot. Does the old lady still live in that house on the edge of town?” Katsuki asks, ignoring the lovebirds. 

“Ya, she hasn’t moved.” Hanta says. “Why don’t you bring your mate here and introduce her! Then I can bring Shoto and Mina can go get Chiyo.” 

They all turn to look at the alpha, waiting for his approval of their plan. 

‘It won’t be until tomorrow that we can all gather together, and I need to get home to Deku.’ Katsuki thinks, turning towards the direction Izuku’s cabin was in. 

“We should really get everyone to live in the same area.” Denki says dryly, not really thinking about what he was implying. 

“That’s a great idea! We could build a few cabins in the meadow, across from the dens. We could even put in a private road!” Hanta says, getting super excited about the prospect of being able to be with his pack and mate at the same time. 

“Katsuki, what do you think?” Mina asks, turning to the large wolf. 

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he finally answers them. 

“Gather Shoto and Chiyo tomorrow. We will talk about it then. I need to get back to Deku.” With that, he runs off, leaving the group alone to make a plan. 

~Izuku~

Every single test came back positive. She didn’t know what to do or think. 

‘It had only been 1 day, less than 24 hours, how is this possible?! Is it because he’s not human? Is there more at play here?’ She thinks, frozen, sitting on her couch, staring at the 10-pregnancy tests before her on the coffee table. ‘I’m going to kill that wolf if he doesn’t come back soon and answer my questions.’ She fumes, sitting back glaring at the back door. 

“Deku?” Katsuki calls out, knocking before entering. When he sees her on the couch, the tests before her, he tenses, clearing his throat. “I brought you a gift.” Izuku looks at him baffled before getting up and walking over to him. 

“You’re going to be a dad. Congrats.” She says blandly, only giving him a passing glance, but she can hear the happy whine he lets out and the vigorous wagging of his tail, making a small smile grace her stoic expression. Which quickly drops when she sees a dead elk in her backyard. 

‘What the hell?’ 

~Later That Night~

Once she was done scolding him for killing an elk without permission and bringing it here, Izuku couldn’t help but think it did look tasty and she did need some meat in her freezer, then there was the issue that he was normally a wolf. So, once her hormones chilled, she had turned to the stunned looking hybrid and said a quiet thank you and got to work skinning and gutting the kill. 

Now, hours later, dinner done and cleaned up, she was out in the very backyard that he had forcefully bred her in the night before, looking out over the forest, thinking. 

The greenette can hear heavy footsteps coming up behind her, a massive mass of golden fur coming to sit behind her, large, clawed hands moving to gently pull the pondering woman to his broad, barrel chest covered in scars. She can feel hot breath rushing over her neck and shoulders before the werewolf starts grooming her, starting with his mating mark. 

“This pregnancy isn’t going to be like a human’s, is it?” Her words are soft, just barely above a whisper. 

“Yes, it will only be half the time.” Katsuki's deep voice says behind her, his chest rumbling with every syllable. 

“Okay.” Is all she can think to say, fingers brushing lazily over his furry arms. A warm feeling blooming in her chest as he gives her a loving squeeze. 

They sit there for a while, Katsuki in his werewolf form, holding his mate close. Izuku runs her fingers through his soft golden fur, finding herself melting even more into the embrace, welcoming it even. 

Later, once Izuku is bathed and ready for bed, Katsuki stays in his true form, curling around his mate, spooning her. 

“I’m still upset with how you went about this, but… I do care about you and want to have this pup.” The greenette says with a tired yawn, closing her eyes and rolling over, burrowing into the safety of the werewolf’s body, placing a light kiss over his racing heart. 

“Thank you, thank you for giving me a second chance, and for being willing to stay.” 

That's the last thing Izuku hears before falling into a deep dreamless sleep.
