Y/N's POV
I didn't sleep at all. The night dragged on as I tossed and turned, replaying that brief, cutting exchange with Jungkook over and over in my head. His words still stung, sharper than I wanted to admit. He's changed. And the worst part? That wasn't the part that hurt most—I expected him to. It was the finality in his voice, the coldness, as if the years between us had created an impassable distance. A stranger. That's what we were to each other now.
Of course, he changed, Y/N. What did I expect?
That the guy who cheated on me and is now engaged to her would somehow come back, after all these years?
Yeah, right. He moved on. And I have to stop caring.
With a deep sigh, I pushed myself out of bed and went through the motions—showering, getting dressed, trying to shake off the heaviness weighing on my chest.
But his words...they kept replaying.
"You really think you can just waltz back in after five years and everything will be the same?"
Why does it still sting so much? Maybe because it was true. He'd moved on. And I, well...I had to keep pretending I had too.
I headed downstairs after my bath, the faint smell of breakfast drifting through the air. The girls were already up, gathered around the table, chatting casually. All laughing and carefree, as if last night hadn't shaken me to my core. I plastered on a smile as I entered the room.
As soon as I sat down, the staff began serving breakfast, filling the table with the usual spread—toast, eggs, fruit, pancakes, and coffee. But the food didn't really matter. I was grateful just for the distraction, for the noise, for anything that could pull me away from the thoughts gnawing at me.
Wendy (grinning): "Y/N! You're finally down. We were just talking about the plan for today!"
I raised an eyebrow, grabbing a piece of toast. Plans?
Y/N: "Oh? What's the agenda?"
Seulgi (excitedly): "We were thinking of showing Wendy around! Since she hasn't been here for ages—like, ages. She moved to London when she was four, remember? And now, back at 27, she's practically a tourist again!"
Wendy (laughing): "Yeah, I've forgotten most of the places here. It's like rediscovering my roots. I want to go everywhere!"
The excitement in Wendy's voice was infectious, and despite myself, I found a little smile creeping onto my face.
A girl's day out... maybe that's exactly what I need.
Nayeon (teasingly): "You better be prepared to walk a lot, Wendy. Seoul is no joke when it comes to shopping and exploring."
I chuckled, then an idea popped into my head. Why not make this a bigger thing? A day out with all the girls sounded perfect.
Y/N: "You know what? How about we invite other girls too? A proper girl's day out."
Everyone's eyes lit up, and I could feel the energy in the room shift.
Jisoo (grinning): "Oh, yes! The more, the merrier. Hyejin is going to love this as its her wedding tmrw...bachelor party!"
Wendy (clapping her hands): "Yes, yes, yes! Let's make it happen. It'll be so much fun."
As everyone nodded in agreement, I pulled out my phone and quickly typed a text to Hyejin, Sana, and Jieun:
