Aaron walked down the street, hands in his pockets, feeling bored out of his mind. He'd just come out of work, wanting something for dinner. Just 10 minutes ago, he'd asked his coworkers, "Yo guys, anyone wanna grab dinner with me?" Most had just ignored him, and one just grunted, which could have meant anything from 'Sure' to 'Fuck off'. Aaron had sighed and left alone, walking down the road to his favorite cafe, which had gained its title from being the only cafe he could actually afford.

As he walked on, he felt like something was watching him. For a second he wondered if someone was stalking him, but then just shook his head and thought, "Nah, as if anyone would stalk me of all people" and walked on, thinking he was just imagining it.

Soon he got to the cafe, just to be greeted with a 'Closed' sign. Aaron groaned. "Of course it's closed, it's not like something could go alright for once today."

This was just another thing that seemed to have gone wrong for him today. In the morning, he woke up because he rolled off his bed in his sleep. With a bad body ache, he had gone into the kitchen just to realize that his groceries had ran out. He walked to the grocery store through the pain just to find it closed. On the way back home, it started to rain. In the middle of July. And then a car sped by him, splashing water all over his clothes. He had to go back home, dry off and shower, and change his clothes, which made him late for work. Even at work, he somehow got a scolding for everything he did. Nobody came to eat dinner with him, and now the cafe where he wanted to eat to maybe better his mood was also closed. Yeah, God seemed to have decided that he wasn't gonna enjoy today.

So, he just headed back home, deciding to just make something there. Soon, he felt the feeling of being watched again. He then felt the area grow colder.

"Are you kidding me? First it rained and now it's cold? I don't even have a sweater!" he thought, thoroughly annoyed with another bad thing happening today. He had no choice but to keep walking, shivering from the cold as he did.

"There's no way this day can get any worse" he thought. He didn't know how wrong he was.

Then, suddenly, he heard flapping of wings, before he heard something land behind him. He thought it was a bird, and turned around to look at it. What he saw was not any random bird.

Behind him was a large creature with large red wings, talons sharper than knives, and a very ugly looking face with a mouth that seemed to be itching to eat him alive. It was about 2 meters tall, with blood red eyes. It had a scaly body, and its mouth had large white fangs that seemed ready to tear him apart. And it did not come in peace, that was for sure.

Aaron froze. "I jinxed it, didn't I?" he thought as he stared at the massive beast.

Then, all of a sudden, it dove right at him. His body instinctively dodged at a quick speed.

"Since when can I move that fast?" he wondered for a second, but didn't have any time to think more on it as the beast tried to use it's talons to cut him apart. He tried to move back, but the talons managed to scrape at his abdomen, and he lost some blood. He felt a burning sensation where he got hit, and felt that something like poison was entering his body.

"Alright, gotta use my best self defense technique..." he thought, took a stance, and then turned around and ran quickly, at least as fast as he could while feeling so much pain, a weird weakness and losing blood. "Which is to run away from the battle."

The beast seemed a bit surprised for a second, thinking Aaron would fight it when he took that stance, but recovered from the surprise and followed suit, flying at him. It was fast, faster than Aaron, especially in his weakened condition.

He decided to run into a narrow alley, where the beast wouldn't be able to fly, giving him a slightly higher chance at survival. Adrenaline rushed through his body, giving him enough energy to run through the alley.

But soon, he came to a dead end. There was nowhere to run. He was trapped. He gulped. He had never seen such a creature before, and decided to see if it was smart enough to negotiate. Yeah, he was desperate at this point.

"Hey, good birdie, hey. You know, I won't taste very good, especially raw. Don't you think you should leave me and find someone better tasting?"

In retrospect, maybe calling a beast that was about to kill you 'good birdie' wouldn't be the best of ideas. Well, he did, and the beast seemed to not like that. It shrieked in a high pitched voice and dove right at him. Aaron cursed, and instinctively closed his eyes.

He prepared for the massive pain he was able to feel, and his body tensed. But the pain never came. And then he heard a high pitched shriek, that sounded suspiciously like a pained one.

He slowly opened his eyes, to see what was happening. He saw the beast's wings each were severed by a dagger that looked like it was made of gold. His eyes widened, unable to understand where the daggers came from. Then he saw someone, having straight medium length black hair and wearing a red colored cloak appear before the beast and chop its head off. His jaw dropped, and if his eyes would widen anymore, they'd come right out of their sockets.

The two daggers suddenly had blue energy surround it, and flew into the hands of another person who appeared next to the one. This person also had black hair, but they were longer and more unruly, and was wearing a blue colored cloak instead of red.

"Who the hell are you two?" Aaron blurted out before he could stop himself.

The guy with the blue cloak turned to look at him, with an amused smile on his face.

"We're Specters. And maybe give some respect to the guys who saved your life? I'm Jasper, the guy with the red cloak is Theo. What's your name?"
