Spotting Steve walking out of the military enlistment room, Daisy sprung up from her seat. She went to him, wanting to ask how things went in there. "Steve! Hey!" She finally caught up to him, gently placing her hand on his boney shoulder to stop him from walking any further. She noticed that he was walking away pretty quickly, "Did you get in?"

Steve ignored the flutter in his stomach at the sound of her saying his name, and the touch of her fingers on his own shoulder. He kept his gaze low and on the dirt ground as he turned around, slowly shaking his head.

Daisy frowned and pulled him in for a hug, "It's alright, you'll get in. . . I know it. You just have to keep trying," she reassured him with a warm smile set on her plump, pink lips.

"Daisy. . . " he tried to ignore the spark he felt from the hug and from her touch. Resting his chin down on her left shoulder, he continued on, "I—they're never going to accept me! I can't even defend myself when a bully beats me, I'm—"

"Don't you dare go any further, Steven." She disapprovingly told him once she unwrapped her arms from his small shoulders.

"Did you really just call me by my full, first name?" The corner of his lips slightly curving up.

"Yes, I did!" Daisy proudly nodded with a smile.

"Ms. Smith! Come patch up this man!"

Daisy turned her head, looking back at the man from over her shoulder, "Just one second, sir!"

She turned back to her best friend, sighing. "Steve, look at me."

He looked up from the ground and into her beautiful blue eyes, his breath hitching at the back of his throat. The longer he stared into them, the more he started to feel relaxed each second that passed by.

"I will always support you. You are able to do anything. Stand up to the bullies. There will be obstacles, but don't give up. If you don't give up, you will make it there. I believe in you."

Daisy started to turn away but she stopped herself, giving Steve a lingering kiss on his right cheek, "Promise me that." She then walked away with a smile on her face that she couldn't seem to lose.

"I promise," he whispered under his breath. Steve couldn't believe what had just happened. He watched his best friend, the one he's had a crush on since forever walk back to the medical tent as he held his cheek, the one she had just kissed, still holding on to it. He sucked in a breath of air when he saw her look back at him with a smile.

Walking the other way, a large grin blossomed onto his face, seeing that Daisy had just made his day better.
