Round on the patients, check in on the patients, talk to the patients, always the patients. It astounded Seonghwa how the word patient had invaded his life ever since he began shadowing his dad at the hospital two months ago. Mr. Park was the town's general surgeon as well as resident doctor since the total of medically trained personal in Phantom Falls was pretty scarce. But to say medicine had only now invaded his life would be a lie given his father's profession and that his mother was also a nurse at said hospital. Did he love medicine and dream about being a doctor as well? Not even close. Was he ever going to tell his parents and turn away from the family profession? Even less likely.

Seonghwa was the best student at his high school and dedicated his life to helping others. In the future it would be as a doctor but right now, it was at school where he was part of the tutoring program where four years ago he had met Jung Wooyoung, one of his closest friends to the date. He had always been more of a loner, dedicating his hours to studying and learning everything he could which was why it had been a shock to his parents, and to himself, when he first started befriending the younger boy. Of course, said friendship had almost never existed due to an unfortunate Halloween prank the first year they met but it had been long forgotten.

Everyone in Phantom Falls loved the Park family for their integrity, their kindness to others and for always helping. They had become pillars of the community which meant the town's people held them at high regards, a notion that had been put to the test ever since Seonghwa had become friends with local trouble maker Jung Wooyoung.

"Seonghwa, if you have time to think then you should be thinking about how to help out the patients"

The ravenette jumped when he heard his father's voice. It's not that he was afraid of him, but he knew he how dedicated he was to the hospital, and he could be a strict boss.

"I'm sorry. I'm done studying the charts and rounding on the patients and there's no one who needs help in the ER"

"Yet" his father said, putting his pen in his coat pocket. "You never know when someone will come through those doors in need of assistance"

"I know, I'm keeping a close watch" Seonghwa sarcastically said making his dad smile.

"You will be here tonight, right? Halloween usually brings people to the ER, lots of accidents and mishaps"

Seonghwa had no recollection of ever celebrating Halloween. Ever since he was a child, both his parents worked nights at the hospital and their hectic schedule also meant the house was never decorated and no candy awaited him at home. One day he had gone trick or treating by himself which had resulted in him eating too much candy too fast and needing his stomach pumped at the hospital. After that, he spent every Halloween under his parent's somewhat distracted supervision.

Two years ago, Wooyoung had managed to convince him to dress up as a revenant in the cemetery to scare the life out of their friend, Yeosang. The thought only was enough to make Seonghwa break into a laughter. The blonde boy was such an easy scare. Ever since they met, he could tell Yeosang was the typical naïve boy that would fall prey to his best friend's dumb ideas but somehow their dynamics intrigued him a lot. At first, the elder didn't want to hang out with two long time best friends but then he came to envy the bond they shared and even started to wish he could have that himself. And against all odds, the two boys had adopted him without a second thought.

But if he was one hundred percent honest, Seonghwa had another reason to want to stick around. Kang Yeosang. The most beautiful, most innocent and purest boy he had ever met. With his long blonde hair, perfect nose and that sexy birth mark next to eye, he had captured the ravenette's attention from the first day they met until now, four years later. The two had became great friends, but inside, Seonghwa harbored raging feelings for the other. And even though they only had a two-year gap, he still felt the need to protect the younger all the time, from Wooyoung's idiotic pranks, from scary thoughts, from the darkness or from the world. He had contemplated telling him on many occasions, but the timing was never right and if there was something Seonghwa believed in, it was that timing was key.
