The sun hung low over the dusty streets of Dustwood, its fiery glow casting long shadows on the ground as Sheriff Cole Matthews stood in front of the saloon. The town was quieter than usual, unnervingly so. A chill ran down Cole’s spine. He could feel it in the air—something was terribly wrong.

Earlier that morning, the first signs had appeared. Old Man Jenkins had come stumbling into town, wild-eyed and groaning, covered in blood that wasn’t his own. At first, folks thought it was just a scuffle gone wrong, but then Jenkins lunged at a passerby, his teeth sinking into flesh. By the time the town had put him down, three more townsfolk were already showing the same signs—violence, hunger, and madness.

Now, the disease was spreading like wildfire, turning good, honest people into mindless predators, hell-bent on devouring the living. They moved through the town like a plague, their dead eyes filled with insatiable hunger.

Cole had spent the afternoon trying to maintain order, barricading the sheriff’s office with planks of wood and gathering the few who had not yet been affected. But it wasn’t enough. The infection was spreading too fast. The night was closing in, and with it, the real horror would begin.
