I didn't think I'd end up at the skate park today, but here I am. Zoey had insisted I get out of the apartment, as usual, claiming I needed to "get out of my head." It didn't take much convincing—skating is one of the few things that clears my mind. The park is busy today, but it doesn't bother me. It's home turf.

I'm adjusting the wheels on my board when I spot someone walking toward the half-pipe with a familiar face—Billie. She's standing there in baggy clothes and a beanie, laughing with a group of her friends, totally chill. I'm surprised to see her here since I never pictured her as the skate park type, but I guess people are full of surprises.

I try to go unnoticed, but of course, she spots me. She raises an eyebrow, a grin already forming on her face as she makes her way over. Great.

"Raven?" Billie says, smiling wider. "Didn't expect to find you here."

I shrug, trying to keep it casual. "This is kinda my spot," I say, patting my skateboard. "What about you?"

Billie laughs. "Oh, I'm just here for moral support. Trust me, I don't skate. I'd end up with a broken ankle."

I chuckle, looking her over. "Yeah, I can see that."

She smirks, clearly not offended. "Hey, no shame in knowing your limits, right?"

I get up from the bench, ready to drop into the bowl. Billie's eyes widen slightly as I step onto my board, clearly realizing I'm not just messing around.

"You skate seriously?" she asks, sounding genuinely impressed.

"Yeah, something like that," I say, pushing off smoothly and dropping into the bowl without hesitation.

The second my wheels hit the concrete, everything else fades away. The noise of the park, the weight of the day—it all disappears. I move through the bowl, hitting a few tricks, feeling the familiar rush of wind and adrenaline. It's second nature at this point.

When I finally roll back up to Billie, she's staring at me with wide eyes. "Whoa," she says, blinking. "You're, like... really good."

I can't help but grin. "Yeah, I've been doing this for a while."

Billie shakes her head, still looking a bit stunned. "Okay, I was not expecting that. You didn't mention you're a pro or something."

I shrug, stepping off my board. "Didn't think it'd come up."
