Before i get started here is Keiko's background. In 1977 Keiko the orca is born in the Atlantic ocean near Iceland. In 1979 he is kept in an Iceland aquarium until 1982. He is brought to Marineland in Canada where he is forced to preform daily. 1992 Warner Bros starts to film "Free Willy" a story of a young boy saving Willy from being a captive whale. Keiko portrays Willy in this movie. "Free Willy" became an extremely popular movie at the time. It was then decided that Keiko the orca would get a second chance at freedom. The Free Willy foundation was formed and received 4 million in donations. At this point a 7.2 million huge rehabilitation tank is being made for Keiko which will include live fish, ocean plants, colder water, and currents. When it is finished Keiko is brought to it and is an immediately different orca. He is healthier and his horrible skin rash goes away. These are some of Keikos happiest moments, he gets to be with his favorite trainers and swim in ocean like conditions! Eventually he is moved to the ocean where he will live for 1 year. Sadly in 2003 Keiko was reported dead almost 2 years after release. RANT: I am tired of Pro caps calling us Anti caps Keiko killers! It seems to appear in every anti cap pro cap argument. Keiko was going to die in a shorter amount of time had he been kept in that tank! Not to mention i can technically call every pro cap at Shamu, Orky, Orky2, Corky, Mamuk, Taima, and over 160 other orcas killers. Pro caps you are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts. The fact is captivity is wrong.
