🇷🇺 x 🇫🇷 (France x Russia, Frussia, FraRus, RusFra)

13/15 -

Now, this ships honestly: not that bad. And I'm not saying as this some dumb American who knows batshit about history, no I'd say this is... For the most part historically accurate.

As someone whose part French, my mom has told me good things about Russia, despite both her and my dad being PATRIOTIC AMERICANS!!! GRAAAH!! 🇺🇲 Ok but jokes aside, from what I could rather from the French side of the Community: they like Russia and this ship.

Believe It or not, I didn't use to like this ship. (But a certain man with the Spanish word for Tiger came in), but I slowly started to realize. It's really good honestly. Let's get into some historical basis shall we :

"Russia and France have historically fought each other!!!" Yes, yes they have. But so have Britain and France, and I see you all shipping them? When they're conflicts were much more brutal and personal? And another thing is: Neither side wanted those wars with each other, it's unfair to claim that just because Russia fought France in the Napoleonic Wars that Russia did it out of prejudice or a rivalry. The Tsar and Napoleon both had a great relationship, and as far as I'm aware, Napoleon didn't want to commence the Invasion.

"USSR and France are enemies!!" Are we gonna forget that these two joined forces to fight Fascism? France during the 30's and 40's had a lot of leftist sympathy. Especially with the Communist and Anarchist parties. Charles de Gaulle himself was Impressed with the Soviet Union, and even 'befriended' Mikhali Tukhachevsky (If you know, you know). And both the Red Army and French Liberation Forces had admiration and mutual respect for each other. (Also a lot of Russian Communist theory comes from French Leftist literature, so yessir!!)

"Modern day relations are tense." Tbh, this is what stops the ship for being 15/15 for me, it is tense. Despite the historical friendship, these two are in opposing sides. I suppose I have my own country to blame partially. But yeah, relations today are kinda sour. And tbh, I wish it wasn't like that.

But historically speaking, this ship overall is amazing. Thank you El Homo Tigay for introducing this to me.

Tl:DR: I like the ship cause it's historically accurate, but modern relations stop it from being 100% perfect for me.
