"Jak," He said his name was.
"Jak, huh? I would say it's nice to meet you but it's hard to say." Tess responded to him.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, it's simple..." She turned on the facet and nothing came out, "Shit."
"What's wrong?" Jak questioned.
"They shut the water off. I paid the bill the other night." Tess growls to herself and turns to Jak, "It's fine for now, I'll deal with it later." Tess takes a deep breath and calms herself, "I was told you were important cargo that got dumped, do you know why?"
"The Baron did experiments on me. Filled me with Dark Eco."
"That's horrible, even for him."
"So who are you?"
"You can call me Tess, I'm part of the rebellion Underground."
"Underground? I think I've heard guards talking about the Underground becoming a growing threat." Jak folds his arms.
"That's good, at least that lets me know our work isn't for nothing." Tess leans against the counter.
"If you want to look at it that way, then yeah." Jak looked around the apartment, "So, why did you save me?"
"What?"
"I'm just asking because I am dangerous according to most."
Tess looked to the side. She doesn't really know why besides the fact she didn't want to leave him there to die, it wouldn't have been right. It's rare even seeing a prisoner with the way the Baron runs the city. He was special and she knew it.
"I don't know... I just couldn't leave you there to die," She answered truthfully.
"And how do you know you could trust me?" He questioned.
"Well... In this city, prisoners aren't really a thing. Most guards will tell people to surrender and die. The Baron is trying to flush us out and he is getting desperate."
"Maybe I want to teach the Baron a lesson."
Tess's ears perked up, "Oh really? You want to fight after all he made you go through?"
"Are you kidding? I want to make his life hell."
Tess smiled, "If that's the case-" Her comm went off.
"Tess, come in." Torns voice said.
Tess held up a finger and pulled her comm out, "This is, what's up?"
"My insider has informed me that our ever gracious Baron shut off the water to everywhere in the slums."
"Dammit, that's why my water wasn't working. I'll deal with it." She said.
"What? We have other agents, you don't have to go out there," Torn argued.
"I live here like everyone else, I will deal with it."
Torn growled audibly, "Fine, not my problem then."
The comm link has ended. Calls can't be long since something could cause an interference and give away their positions if they are on a call too long. She set the comm on the counter and faced Jak. He was sitting there with his arms folded with a monotone look on his face.
"This could be a way to prove yourself." Tess informs him.
Jak's face grows into a slight smile, "Oh yeah? And how would I go about that?"
"You want to find the large drain pipe in the north wall and follow it, it'll take you outside of the city to the pumping station. You would want to open the main valve from there."
