ERINE
His eyes move around the room as if he was trying to hold in his tears. He walks up to his wife, who is already sobbing at the thoughts of her daughter, and pats her on her shoulder to calm her down. She holds his hands and the room fills with silence as they share a moment of grief. Seeing this, I can no longer hold back my own tears and start to cry. After a while, the woman gets up the couch and walks up to me. She wipes my tears and pulls me into a tight hug and says something that I had not expected. She says that they wish to adopt me.
For a moment, my mind stops working and then I quickly start to think about my situation. My mom is dead. So is my brother. My dad is probably running and hiding. I don't know any of my relatives from either side as my parents had a runway marriage. They never introduced me to any of their relatives. And even if I get to know them now, I don't think that they would do me any good. They will just possibly consider me a burden. My parents weren't really rich. So, they wouldn't take me in for money. I don't know. I weigh my options.I have two options at the moment. First is to live with this couple. Second is to live in the streets. The first one is obviously the better option but I still think for few more minutes. They are waiting eagerly for my answer. Their eyes are filled with hope. The woman tightly holds the hands of her husband and crosses the fingers of her free hand. At her backside of course, but I can see that. I don't have much to think about. It's either with them or in the streets. Who would want to live in the streets if they have a better option? So, I answer with a nod of approval. The woman literally jumps in excitement and hugs me so tightly. "You won't regret this decision, sweetie." She tells me. "What's your name?" To which the man says, "She can't talk yet." "Oh yeah! Take her to a psychiatrist, Edwin." She says while looking at the man.
The man's name is Edwin, I come to know. "Arner is coming home today. I'll tell him to take her." The man says. The woman says," Didn't he come earlier this morning?" To which the man replies, "Yes, but he left something at his place so he left. I didn't even get a chance to get inside of his car." His wife scuffs and says, "It's his new car. Surely, I will be the first to ride it with him." Are they talking about the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster. The one I saw before. That belongs to their son? Did he not pick me up? Oh goodness! I was thinking that I came here by riding a Veneno Roadster. I was unconscious so there would be no way to confirm that. I'm so dumb. I was talking to myself in my head when suddenly I felt a hand in my shoulder. I get jump scared. The woman first smiles but then gets worried and says to her partner, " Is it also due to the trauma?" "I don't know. Maybe." replies the man.
The woman again starts smiling as she introduces herself. "I'm Adria Rivera. Just so you know, I'm 42. I have th-I mean two children. Arner is my oldest son. He is 21 and has finished his college. Yeah, a little surprising but he started school early at just 4 years old. He is the owner of one of the biggest IT specialized company in the US. Adren is my other son. He is 19. He is currently studying and also works part time as a junior developer in his brother's company." I look at her and she says while pointing at Edwin," How can I forget about him. He is Edwin Rivera, my husband. He is a politician. He owns a company. He's 44."What! How can someone finish college and also own a company- oh wait! One of the biggest companies, at the age of just 21. He's just 6 years older than me. I'm still in my high school. And how many companies do these guys own? Oh my god! Is this a dream? No, it's not! It REAL! "Get her a pen and paper, honey." Adria says while looking at Edwin.
