ERINE
Edwin walks out of the room and returns shortly after with a notepad and a pen. He hands me the pen and paper and asks me to write down my name. "Erine Rodrigo," I write there. Adria takes a look at it and goes, "Erine, that's a lovely name. Well, sweetie I'll make arrangements to change your last name into Rivera if you are okay with that." I agree to their offer. Their face lights up with happiness. I can't believe that they want me to become a member of their family and I can't believe that I accepted their offer. But then I remember Surgish brother. I can't imagine me and my brother having different last names. I hurriedly write, "No, I don't want to do it. I'm sorry, " on the notepad and hand it over to Edwin for him to read it.

He reads it out loud. Although Adria shows visible signs of sadness, she still says,"That's alright, dear if you don't want to." Edwin, he doesn't say anything. I ask him about my mother and brother. By writing, of course. He hesitates but then advises to sit down. I reluctantly take a seat on their red couch which feels so much massive that the one at our house. It's been two days since I ran away from my home and a day since Edwin went to investigate or sent someone to do so but I still have no idea about anything that has happened.

His face speaks of worries. And I know not to expect good news from his side. He says that the bodies of my mother and brother have been retrieved and taken in for investigation. "They will hand over the bodies next Tuesday," He says. I try to think what day it is and Edwin, as if he was reading my mind, says, "It's Friday. So, after 3 days." The thought that my mom and brother are no longer with me feels unreal and I want to cry out loud, hugging someone tight, because I know that it's REAL and it's unchangeable. I don't even have a shoulder to cry on. This feeling is the worst.

I then write, " What about my dad?" He looks at me and after a moment says, "He's not found yet. But don't worry, search is still going on. There was some pictures that he brunt down he was trying to hide his pictures I guess. We didn't get any pictures of him so it'll be little difficult to search him. Police are trying to investigate at his workplace but they have no idea where he worked at and your home is located away from city, alone so there are no neighbors to question about him." I listen to him talk but then zone out. I don't know how longer he talked about how difficult it was for them to find my dad. I only get back to my senses when he waves his hands infront of my eyes calling out my name.

I snap back to reality. Both Edwin and Adria look worried. I smile at them to let them know that I'm fine. They get relieved and Adria walks out of the room saying that she'll prepare some dishes for Arner. I am actually curious about this Arner. They are talking about Arner like he's some kind of mafia. I mean they get really excited but scared as well when they talk about him. He must be some dangerous person. I'm genuinely scared about him.

Edwin follows Adria out of the room. They have so good and pure relationship. I wish my parents had the same kind of relationship. If it had been like that, my situation would have been different today. I was lost in my thought when I hear a manly voice in the hallway. "Mom! Dad! I'm home." The voice says.
