Before I even begin, I want you to know that I literally just finished the anime, so I apologize if anyone is out character. However, this is going to be a modern AU, so... You'll see.
I felt the weight on my chest; my breathing shallowing. Was this how it was going to end? A dogs death? Eaten by a titan? No! I just couldn't die this way. I refused it. But I couldn't move my body; I couldn't even life my hand up to bite my thumb. Hell, and the moment I saw him fall, I didn't want to. Laying next to me was Levi, the man I loved; the man I promised to keep safe no matter what, and here he was, dying alongside me.
"Levi.." I breathed out, managing to turn my dull, emerald gaze towards the raven. "C-can.. Can you stand?" I asked, though the look I received gave me my answer. No, he couldn't move. This was it; we were done for, and to what expense? We failed, and were dying in vain. Dammit! All I could imagine were the screams of everyone; Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie.. Everyone..
"Eren," Levi choked out, his chest barely rising and falling. "Don't. I know what you're... You're thinking. We.. We aren't dying in vain.." He whispered, reaching his hand over and placing it on my chest. "We stopped several titans from getting into Sina.. We'll leave the rest in the hands of the others... Sina is their last place to run, after all.." Even through all this, Levi still remained calm and strong; Eren admired him even more.
"I.. I love you, Levi.. I really do."
"I love you too, Jaeger. Perhaps, we will meet again... In another li..." Levi, before he could even finish, went silent, his gray eyes dulling.
"Levi..? Levi..? Oh god, Levi!" I screamed, though, he didn't wake. He was dead. My precious corporal had gone and left me.
That's when things started to get bright.
I looked around, confused, only to find myself, laying in bed, tears streaming down my face. "Again...?" I whispered, slowly sitting up and staring at the wall. This was such a constant thing for him; that stupid dream haunted him every night, and no matter what, he'd wake up crying over this Levi guy. Who even was he? And titans? That was thousands of years again. Get it together Jaeger, you're losing it...
