So, Mom needs carrots, oil, butter...my eyes flew over to the top shelf, then noticed a poster.
Star Festival- Grand Opening Tomorrow! Fourteen years-olds, hold your excitement!
Uh oh.
I'm doomed.
The Star Festival is tomorrow!?
Why didn't I realize until now!?
I quickly grabbed the things from the grocery list Mom gave me in lighting speed and took it to the counter, accidentally bumping into someone. The man who looks-like-he's-in-a-gang turned angrily to me, about to swear, and I just mumbled something like an apology and shuffled past him, crashing my things at the counter. The cashier looks startled and looked up from her phone, placing it in her bag. She scanned the items and I took out my shopping bag.
"That'll be 124.23," says the cashier, waiting for my payment. I hurriedly took out a crumbled 200 dollar bill and handed it to her. She gave me my change and I literally breezed past the other people, wanting to get home as soon as possible. I'd completely forgotten that the Star Festival was tomorrow. Oh god.
I rushed out and was about to grab my sparkly blue umbrella when I felt weird. Um...what was missing-?
"Miss! You forgot your groceries!" I heard the cashier's voice and looked down. No groceries. No groceries. No-
"Miss!" The cashier called again, louder this time. I heard a few people snicker. My face grew hot with embarrassment as I rushed to the counter and grabbed my groceries, rushed out(again!), grabbed my umbrella(again!!) and finally, walked out. (Raced out?!)
Looks like the Star Festival wasn't the only thing I'd forgotten today.
I inserted my key into the small keyhole to our also-small apartment and rushed to the kitchen, placing the groceries on the counter. Then, I rushed to my room and slammed the door shut.
Come on come on come on, I thought as I typed the words 'Star Festival dress' in the StarSearch search box.
A dozen results came out, and I click straight for CozmicCart, the best online/actual shop in Star York, with super quick deliveries. I'm even thinking about trying out for being the cashier at a CozmicCart store close to our apartment with three floors. It was huge.
Anyway, as expected, there were so much selections at CozmicCart's online shop. I could order now, pick up later. Perfect. I saw a couple of different outfits, all exaggerated colors, really. But it's all about that in a Star Festival. Once in a lifetime, dudes. Who doesn't want to be exaggerating?
I scrolled through. A couple of those fits were far too expensive. Seriously, a thousand star dollars, just for a dress? Talk about an increase in prices!
These outfits ended up being my top two choices:
