It was challenging, but I knew I had to keep in contact with the people in my life so that things could return to normal once I got back to my usual routine. I should probably start replying to my friends' texts. They've been messaging in our group chat about meeting up for dinner sometime soon. I've seen the messages but haven't replied yet.
"That's it for today. Let's go back," I said as I closed my sketchbook.
I still didn't have a definite idea for my painting, but I wouldn't call this visit to the park a complete failure. Watching the happy people strolling by gave me a glimpse of hope. Things will get better; I just knew it.
...
When I got back to the penthouse, Raiden wasn't back yet, to my relief. I didn't want to run into him. To be honest, I didn't know how to face him, and I suspected he would bring me nothing but trouble. Auntie was there with a table full of dinner. There was so much food that I felt guilty for all the starving people in the world.
"Raiden isn't coming back for dinner, is he?" I asked.
"Oh...I'm not sure...but if you call him, I'm sure he would do his best to be back," Auntie replied with a weak smile.
I was certain she was getting this all wrong. I didn't ask about Raiden because I wanted to have dinner with him; I asked because I didn't want to have dinner with him. If he was coming back, I'd rather skip dinner and head to my room.
Well, I guess he won't be back. So, I'll eat this dinner peacefully and thankfully by myself.
"Call him? I don't even have his number. Oh, and I don't want it. It's actually a good thing he won't be back for dinner, so please, don't worry," I replied with a smile of my own.
I began eating the delicious food as Auntie sighed loudly and mumbled something under her breath that I couldn't make out before leaving me alone. By the time I finished eating, Raiden still wasn't home. Despite the food being delicious, I didn't have much of an appetite and barely ate anything.
When I got up from my seat at the dining table, I realized I hadn't fulfilled my part of the bargain today. I hadn't done anything for Raiden, and since I hadn't seen or spoken to him, he hadn't made any requests either. I bit my lip as I wondered what I could do for him.
My eyes landed on the sketchbook lying on the dining table, and I had an idea. Reaching for it, I flipped through the pages until I found the one I had in mind. Without hesitation, I carefully tore out the page and placed it on the table. Since I won't be needing this for my project anyway...
This is for you, Raiden.
I headed straight to my bedroom and took a shower before going through a bunch of chats I hadn't replied to. My friends were surprised that I had disappeared on them, even though it hadn't been that long.
After a brief discussion in the group chat, we finally settled on a date for our dinner. I figured I could make it, even if it meant those three men in black would have to follow me. I hadn't been told I couldn't go out or meet people, so I assumed it was allowed. I'd feel like a prisoner if I weren't allowed to leave or socialize.
After working a little more on my sketchbook, it got late, and since I had nothing better to do, I decided to go to bed early.
...
It's so loud outside...
I didn't know what time it was, but it was definitely late at night when I woke up to the sound of loud noises. It sounded like a group of people had entered the penthouse, and there was a lot of shouting and chatter.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that it was Raiden and his friends. Girl friends, judging from the high-pitched voices I could hear. Why can't they keep it down?
I felt sleepy, and this unexpected disturbance didn't help my already grumpy mood. I just wanted to go back to sleep. As if things couldn't get worse, loud music suddenly blared throughout the penthouse. Party music filled the air, heavy bass shaking the walls.
Suddenly, the quiet penthouse turned into a dance floor, much to my dismay. How am I supposed to sleep like this? I rolled onto my stomach and covered my head with a pillow to drown out the noise. Unfortunately, it didn't help. The noise was just too loud.
How long will they be at it? Why did he have to bring people here? Why can't he just party somewhere else or, even better, sleep elsewhere?
No matter how much I tossed and turned, I couldn't fall back asleep. I sat up in bed and tossed the blanket aside. Since I couldn't sleep, I might as well find something to do. I decided to read a book to kill time until the party either ended or they all passed out.
After a while, I started feeling hungry. Of course, now of all times. I guess this was the result of not eating enough at dinner. Since I couldn't sleep anyway, I decided to tiptoe to the kitchen to grab something to eat. I figured they were all in Raiden's room, so I could avoid them easily.
I was right. The party was confined to Raiden's room, which meant I could sneak into the kitchen without running into anyone. I opened the fridge and decided on some yogurt with fruit. I was on my way back to my bedroom when the door to Raiden's room suddenly opened.
Great. Now of all times...
