*Gunnar's PoV*

I got out from the car as my mom warmly waved me goodbye, thought I felt some kind of worry in her expression. Sun shone bright, opposite to my mood. Why was I even sent here? I desperately wanted to go home, but my mom forced me to go to the academy. My mom rarely forced me, but if she did, she always did it for my own good. May be except for this time.

Two strong people helped me to carry my luggage. I wouldn't do it myself- as other guys my age were muscular and athletic, I was a weak nerd. PE was never my favorite subject.

I stepped to the waiting hall and got out a book- reading was a calming ray of sunshine in this dark moment. I put on my headphones to space out.

All of sudden, one more girl entered the waiting hall. Her beautiful, wavy ginger hair were were a little tousled. She smiled cheerfully at me and sat down nearby.

I decided to sleep in the forest for today. Even if it was dangerous, it's much more better than staying at my aunt's. I can't say I hate her, but I wish I had more freedom.

I escaped my aunt's house this night, and ran to the forest in my animal form.

I woke up, warm rays of sunlight piercing through the edges of spruce trees. I yawned and stretched, and then looked around- no people or animals were seen, except for some birds. Good.

It would be bad if a human noticed me here. I doubt seeing a doberman in the forest is something usual for them. And going to an animal shelter wasn't in my plans.

I grabbed a backpack that stored my clothes and other necessary items. My dog jaws clenched, holding it. I started running on my all fours and panting. Ten minutes of running, and the academy could be seen.

I hid behind the tree and shifted into a human, quickly putting on my clothes.

I went to the entrance. The guards noticed me and understood I'm a shifter. They opened the door and led me to the waiting hall, carrying my backpack. Once I arrived, I saw a boy in the sweater reading a book. I smiled and sat on the sofa.

"Hello! I'm Leiah, and your name?" She said, her blue eyes looking at the boy.

"I-I'm Gunnar" He awkwardly answered after he had turned his headphones off, "N-nice to meet you..."

"Nice to meet you too!" She exclaimed, and got a comb out to brush her hair.

"By the way," she continued, "what's your animal form?"

Suddenly, the door opened, and a teacher asked two new students to enter the conference hall. Both of them stepped forward, seeing teachers and another students talking. They prepared to meet the others.

They stood looking at viewers. Hanna Garcia, academy's headmaster, introduced new students.

"So, my dear students and teachers, let's hear new students out!"

She stepped to the girl.

"What's your name? What should we know about you?"

Leiah bravely took the microphone and told everyone.

"Hi! I'm Leiah Lindberg! I'm 12 and I love designing and computer games!"

At the same time, two classmates were betting on her animal form.

"I bet on 20 crowns she is a fox shifter," first of them whispered."

"Bet accepted. I think her second form is a squirrel," second approved the bet.

Hanna took the mic again.

"Thank you so much, Leiah. We gladly accept you to our big family."

She turned to the boy.

"And you? Who are you?" She asked kindly and politely.

"I-I'm Gunnar Estlund..." he said, his eyes closed shut.

Students started whispering again.

"Probably a new nerd," one of the girls whispered.

"Yeah," the second one agreed, "and probably lives in his human form most of the time."

"Oh, I see," at the same time, Miss Garcia continued, "anything else you want to tell us?"

"N-no..."

Hanna Garcia took the mic again.

"Ok, we gladly accept second new student to our family. Applaude to the two!"

A loud sound of applauding was heard through the conference hall.

"Now, it's time for the first lesson. Transformation teacher waits for you!" The headmaster told the students.

Everyone got to the Transforamtion class.
