Dani
"Hey I'll be back. My mum needs help with something." I told Luke, my boyfriend of 2 years.
He really didn't seem to care about what I just said, clearly far too invested in Call of duty.
Little does he know I'm actually going to get the early anniversary gift I made him. I snuck through the front door and carefully walked back upstairs to where to his room was just to overhear the conversation.
"I'm only with her as a bet. I don't actually like her" I heard him say to his mate. excuse me?
"I'm sorry?!" I said scaring the shit out of him.
"Dani baby I-" Luke started before I cut him off.
"No. You listen here. We're done. The fact that I was stupid enough to put up with this for 2 years. Go fuck yourself Luke." I spat before throwing the scrapbook I spent forever on at him, before storming out and going back home and breaking down into tears when I found both my brothers in the lounge room.
"Dani? What happened?" Haydn asks, concerned. I didn't respond, instead I went straight towards him to give him a hug.
"I found out I was a bet. So I ended it and now I don't know what to do" I said between sobs.
"That fucking prick. I swear I'll rip his lungs out!" Ricky yells in frustration.
"Dude calm down you're scaring her" Haydn says wrapping me in a tighter hug. Ricky sighs and heads for the kitchen, coming back with a can of sprite for me. "Sorry D. Didn't mean to yell and scare you. I'm just frustrated at that idiot"
I hugged Ricky and told him it was fine. I've always been closer with him than Haydn seeing the age gap between us is only 2 years, then with Haydn there's 5. I love both my brothers. They're really I have now after our parents were killed by a drunk driver in a hit and run.
I grabbed my phone and messaged Maddie. She'll know what to do.
Maddie
I was pulled out of my train of thought with my phone going off. Picking it up I saw a message from Dani saying 'SOS' I have a feeling I know what this is about. Grabbing the mint chocolate chip ice cream from the freezer, I made my way over to her house. Lucky it's only two streets away. Unlocking her front door, and saying hi to both her brothers, I ran upstairs to her room and found her sitting in the corner on the floor.
"I was a bet. That prick fucked with my feelings for two years. Did you bring ice cream?" she said between sobs.
"Girl, get to know me already. " I said hoping I could cheer her up, handing her the pint and a spoon. Eventually pulling her onto her bed and throwing on our favourite movie, camp rock.
A knock on her bedroom door pulled both of our focus to her brother, Ricky.
"Hey Maddie. D, H & I are going out for the night. We'll be back tomorrow at some point" he said.
Ricky & Haydn are her two older brothers. Haydn is the more responsible one while Ricky is an absolute goofball who really couldn't care less about anything except his family.
"You're not going to question why Maddies here?" She asks.
"Nah. I am kicking Luke's ass though. Plus she practically just lives here at this point." He's a got a point. I may as well live here. I am always here.
"We'll be back tomorrow sis. Love you lots. Later Maddie" he said giving both of us hugs before he left.
"When I ever be good enough Mads? When will someone not fuck with my feelings?" She asked between sobs.
"Dani look at me. He didn't deserve you. That idiotic prick will get what's coming to him trust me. For now, let's focus on you." I said wrapping an arm around her as I hit play on the movie.
