"Danielle Grace Buchanan! Get your ass out of bed!" Maddie, my best friend of 12 years yells, whacking me with a pillow. I completely forgot she slept over, she pretty much lives here anyway. Groaning, i eventually rolled out of bed grabbing my pillow and whacking her back. Eventually I rolled out of bed and got changed into a pair of jeans, a random tshirt and my black hoodie. Making my way to the bathroom to figure out what to do with my hair, which I ended up straightening. Eventually I made my way downstairs to the kitchen where Maddie was sitting drinking a cup of coffee.
"Morning Dawson. I made coffee" Maddie says with a smile knowing I'm not a morning person. Dawson is the nickname she has for me. Not many people understand it but we love it.
"Piss off Shay I ain't in the mood" I said throwing the nicknames back at her while I grabbed the coffee, taking a seat next to her and began to drink it in peace.
"Someone's grumpy." She teased knowing she woke me up with a pillow to the face. "Also throw this on. It's season launch day" she said, putting a bulldogs scarf on me. I really didn't want to leave the house and go to some stupid season launch but I'll do it for her.
Aaron
Season launch. One of my favourite days of the year. Nothing beats the red, white and blue faithful come together to watch us train and get presented our jumpers for the upcoming season.
Kicking a couple set shots here and there until
Marra decided to be an idiot and distract me. I ended up shanking the kick entirely and hit a poor girl in the head. Just my luck.
"Hey are you ok? I'm so sorry," I apologised as I ran over to where she was standing.
She looked up at me with her gorgeous hazel coloured eyes and beautiful brown hair. "Yeah I'm fine. Don't worry about it. My brothers do it all the time" we stood there and talked for a moment before Marra had to go ruin it.
"Oi naughty! Quit flirting with the poor girl! You've got training to finish!" He calls. I breathe a sigh of relief when she found Jamarra amusing.
"Dani come get your Pepsi before i throw it at you. Hey Aaron" Maddie says as she walks towards us.
"Hey Maddie. I guess I'll see you-" I begin to say as Jamarra cuts me off.
"You got her number yet?" Marra asks which caused me to whack him. This idiot. How am I friends with him? That's the question.
"Marra go back to training. You too Aaron or I'm telling Marcus" Maddie jokingly threatens.
"Alright alright I'm leaving" I say grabbing Marra's hand and pulling him back towards the oval. "I'll see you around then?" I ask hopeful she'll say yes.
"You'll see us around trust me" Maddie replies as I pulled out my phone to respond to Ricky, telling him that Maddie pulled me into going to a stupid season launch.
Maddie
I ship them already. They'd be so cute together but I know for a fact Dani won't do it. Not after what happened with Luke.
"you understand who you were just talking to right? I ask as she looked at me with confused written all over her face. I'll take that as a no-
"That's Aaron Naughton. He's good friends with Marcus. The other guy he was with, that's Jamarra. He's a new draftee." I explain as I pulled up a highlight video of Aaron's to show her.
"Holy shit- his marking ability" Dani says in shock as I agree with her.
"You guys would be make a cute couple. I ship it" I said teasing her, that so ended well for me because she slapped me.
"Too soon Maddie and you know it. I've lost all respect and trust in men. You know that" she said in an annoyed tone.
"But you could go on double dates with-"
"Shut it hendo." She said with a stern tone. And that's when you know to drop the subject. We continued to talk and hang around while waiting for Marcus. I could tell Dani was getting bored messing around on her phone and was wanting to leave.
"I'm messaging Ricky before you ask. He wants to know how I am. He's such a caring person when it comes to his family." She said and she's right. Both her brothers have excepted me into the family seeing it's just the 3 of them.
"Hey beautiful. Hey Dani. How are you guys?" Marcus asked when he found where we were standing.
"Hey. I can't wait for this upcoming season" I said gently kissing his lips as Dani gave him a salute. Classic Dani.
"So I saw Dani met Aaron and Marra. That reminds me, how's your head?"
"Marcus. I'm fine. You've met Ricky before. Trust me I'm used to it" Dani replied with a laugh.
"Hey I'll met you back at ours?" I ask Marcus as he nods. Grabbing Dani's hand, I dragged her to the car. She pulls her hand out of my grasp glaring at me. "I'm not a child Maddie." She said annoyed.
Arriving back home, she went straight to the kitchen to make food. About 30 minutes later we heard the door and Dani went to go answer it.
"Oh it's you" she said in a fake disgusted expression.
"Yeah it's me" Marcus replied in the same joking manner. I love the brother sister relationship my boyfriend and best friend have.
"And you brought company.." I was confused to why she said that until I saw Marra and naughty behind Marcus. "I'm going back upstairs." Dani said as she ran upstairs to her room.
"What's her problem? I said I was sorry" naughty says slightly annoyed.
"It's not you. She doesn't trust men. She's been hurt in the past but it's not my story to tell" I explain. Naughty's a good person. Dani just needs to let her guard down a bit. Eventually I summoned her back down with the bribery of food. I tossed her a Diet Coke as I sat next to Marcus.
"Dani you ok?" Marcus asks.
"Huh what? Yeah I'm fine." She replies taking a sip of her Diet Coke before munching on a slice of pizza.
"Wait how long have you two known each other?" Marra asks
"About 12 years or some shit. Worst 12 years if you ask me" Dani replies.
"Oi. You son of a bitch" I said throwing a pillow at her.
"You love me jerk. Marcus tell her to stop throwing pillows at me" she whines as I laugh. I noticed naughty kept stealing glances at Dani, not really sure how I feel about this. I don't want her getting hurt again.
"Marcus you staying?" Dani asks.
"Yeah if that's ok with you?" He replies wrapping his arms around me.
"Mate I couldn't care less." She replies taking the rubbish to the bin while I drag Marcus to the bedroom because I'm tired AF. "Dani I'm going to bed!" I called so she knew where I was.
"Yeah cool don't care" she called back. Marra left a little bit earlier so now it's just her and Aaron. Little does she know it's all part of my plan.
Dani
"Where's Maddie and Marcus?" Aaron asked when he came back from the bathroom.
"Bed. Dragged Marcus with her. Wanna go spy on them?" I ask.
"Oh absolutely." He says as I quietly walked to Maddies room with Aaron behind me. Opening the door to find her wrapped in his arms. If only I could have a relationship like that.
"I'm going to head off. I'll see you tomorrow?" He says.
"Yeah of course. I'll see you tomorrow" I reply as I walked him to the door shutting it behind him. Maybe Maddie was right. We would be cute together. No Dani, snap out of it. You only just met the guy. I said to myself snapping out of that train of thought before getting changed, brushing my teeth and getting into bed, slowly drifting off.
