'Everything was the same'

Pete was still trying to process whatever had happened after the accident, or to be more precise, after he died, but he barely had any time to think of anything cause he had a very busy day, ever since he woke up he didn't have a minute to himself, to sit with his thoughts and come up with a proper plan. However, the fact that he already knew what was gonna happen was a bit helpful, weird, but helpful; it's like he was in a play where everyone was following a script and he already knew every word, every action, and every incident before they happened, and so the night went on like this, him repeating what he had done the previous night...if it makes sense.

Pete was standing with some of the guests pretending to be normal and engaged in the conversation, but really he was a mess from the inside, Tay was gonna arrive at any minute and Vegas will propose to him- That's right! Vegas!
He looked around, expecting to find him in his place, just like everyone and everything else, but he wasn't! 'I'm pretty sure he was there before' he thought. Few minutes later he spotted him returning to his spot, again, not in the script! He was not supposed to leave his spot yet, or maybe pete missed that part before. Vegas was checking the time looking anxious and at that moment Tay walked in, and started searching for vegas, his very soon to be fiancé.

Pete stood there for a second, thinking back to everything Tay put him through, from the first day in college to the previous night, what would cause Tay the same amount of pain, right here, and right at this moment, and then his eyes fell on Vegas again.
Of course...

Vegas.

Vegas was watching the crowd, when suddenly he spotted someone walking towards him, or more like running, "is that pete coming towards us? I think he's coming to say hi," his friend said, "no...no it's not supposed to happen," vegas mumbled in confusion, eyes still following the guy making his way through the crowd, pete's heart was beating roughly and he had no control over his senses, but before he could realise it, he was already wrapping his arms around Vegas Theerapanyakul pulling him for a kiss, in front of everyone in the room,

He expected Vegas to push him away, punch him in the face and yell at him, or maybe even kill him in place, he expected him to at least get shocked and freeze in place giving him no reaction at all, but what Vegas did next was a greater surprise to both of them if I may say so.
Vegas was indeed surprised but the moment his eyes fell on Tay across the room, his body almost moved on its own as he pulled Pete closer, placing his hands on his waist gently and showing no sign of being uncomfortable or surprised, as if it was the most natural thing ever, Tay was on the verge of crying and everyone was now staring at them, some were cheering and others were whispering, and as expected the reporters were taking pictures from every angle,

Pete pulled away and when Vegas didn't look angry he decided to go on with it, "I've been looking for you, almost thought you couldn't make it," he whispered but it was loud enough for a few people to hear it, which was enough, Vegas raised one hand to play with pete's hair a little, "I wouldn't miss it for the world," he said with a smile and even pete almost believed it, but why was he doing that? Why is he playing along with him??

Vegas noticed how Tay was fuming as he headed towards them, "ughh what a headache," he took pete's hand and walked away ignoring Tay′s calls and the eyes of the curious people, pete realised little by little what he had done as well as the fact that he didn't know where to take it from here, what will he tell vegas when he asks, how will he explain??!!

They entered an empty storage room and the silence that followed was louder than the noise they left behind, "So, are we gonna talk?" Vegas finally spoke, breaking the awkwardness in the air, "ehm...well I- I apologise for...jumping on you in front of everyone like that," vegas shook his head, "No, no need to apologise, I'm not angry, I mean I did kiss you back so that makes us even?" "I guess so yeah" "I am curious tho, why did you do it? I mean, I know that I'm attractive, but -" pete laughed sarcastically, "your ego didn't decrease one bit I see!" "Definitely not," Vegas said so confidently. It was both hot and annoying,

Pete took a deep breath in, "You know that Tay is crazy about you, he's been since college," " I think everyone knows that, even my family," he said the last line in irony and pete sensed a lot more behind it, "and do you like him too?" He asked hesitantly, "no fucking way," "then why did you-" he jumped to ask him about the proposal but then he remembered that it didn't happen, cause he stopped it this time,

he cleared his throat and continued, "anyway, I didn't invite him today, yet he's here and I know that it's because of you, but I don't want him to have you, I can't," pete said strictly, "wow, that's an odd way to confess your feelings don't you think?" "No no no it's not like that! I- I don't like you or anything-" "Then why did you kiss me? And what is this all about?!" "I- I can't explain," Pete looked down avoiding Vegas's eyes, he looked anxious all of a sudden so Vegas decided to let it go, for now,

"Aren't you curious why I kissed you back?" He asked leaning against the wall, "Of course I am," "I will explain in a minute, but first tell me what's your plan," "what do you mean?" "I mean you literally just kissed me in front of the whole country, our pictures are probably already all over the social media. What are you planning to tell people? 'I kissed him because I couldn't let someone else have him!?!' That's too pathetic for your reputation,"

"I already know that! Fuck I know I fucked up and acted impulsively, but I was angry and didn't think beyond that moment," pete said in frustration, fully realising the greatness of the situation he put himself and vegas into,"our families are going to ask, as well as everyone else, we need a convincing answer, one that won't make anyone doubt us," pete looked at him in confusion, "so what are you trying to say?"

Vegas smiled and walked to him,

"Let's get married."
