Sanemi headed to his bed, feeling a mix of exhaustion and lingering tension from the study session. Just as he was about to lie down, he heard Akatsuki's voice call out to him.
"Hey, Sanemi," she said softly.
"Ye...?" he replied, turning to face her.
"I can't sleep in my room because it's dirty. I really don't want to clean it right now, and Muichiro is sleeping with Obanai, so... can I sleep with you?" Akatsuki asked, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink.
Sanemi's heart raced at her request, and he paused, trying to process what she was asking. "I... uh... sure," he finally said, his voice a bit hesitant. "Just don't get... uh... too cozy," he added, attempting to keep things light even as his nerves kicked in.
"Thanks..." Akatsuki said, relief washing over her as she made her way to the bed. She climbed in, and as she settled down, Sanemi realized just how close they were—his and her faces were only a few inches apart.
Akatsuki blushed fiercely, biting her lip as she turned to look at him. The proximity made her heart race, and she couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement.
Sanemi swallowed hard, his eyes locking onto hers. He could feel the warmth radiating between them, and he fought to maintain his composure. "You okay?" he asked, trying to break the tension.
"Yeah... just a bit nervous," Akatsuki admitted, glancing down for a moment before meeting his gaze again. "I didn't expect to be this close to you."
"Me neither," Sanemi replied, a small smirk forming on his lips. "Just remember, no cozying up, okay?"
Akatsuki laughed softly, the sound breaking the silence that enveloped them. "I'll try my best," she promised, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
They both lay back, but the space between them felt charged, a magnetic pull that neither could ignore. As they settled into an uneasy calm, both found it hard to drift off to sleep, their minds racing with unspoken thoughts and feelings.
The room was silent, save for the sound of their breathing. Akatsuki found it difficult to close her eyes, her mind racing with the closeness of Sanemi. She could feel the warmth radiating from him, and the way he seemed so at ease made her heart flutter even more.
"Hey, Sanemi?" she said softly, breaking the silence.
"Yeah?" he replied, turning his head slightly to look at her.
"Why did you agree to let me sleep here?" Akatsuki asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice.
Sanemi hesitated, searching for the right words. "I guess... I just didn't want you to feel uncomfortable alone. Besides, we're friends, right?"
Akatsuki smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her at his response. "Yeah, friends," she echoed, though the word felt loaded in the stillness of the room.
"Besides," Sanemi added with a smirk, "who else would keep me entertained while I'm stuck here?"
Akatsuki chuckled, her nerves easing slightly. "I'll take that as a compliment."
As they lay there, a comfortable silence enveloped them. After a while, Akatsuki was sleeping.
Sanemi blushes as he feels Akatsuki's legs wrapped around his in her sleep. He whispers to himself, "Man, I really hope Muichiro doesn't find out about this... He'd definitely think I was trying something." He watches her breathing softly, and soon after, he drifts into sleep too.
In his dream, Sanemi sees himself as an older man, standing in front of a large mirror in a grand room. He's wearing a sharp suit with a perfectly tied tie, which he adjusts with a smirk. He flexes his arm, feeling a sense of pride. Suddenly, Akatsuki walks in, dressed in a stunning wedding gown. Sanemi's heart races as he rushes to her, gently kissing her forehead.
