Spencer Fisher absolutely hates Rafe Cameron with a burning passion.
Ever since kindergarten, Spencer has hated Rafe—well because Rafe would bully him for being gay, this was before Spencer even knew he was gay or knew what gay meant.
Spencer didn't even know he was gay until he went through puberty but at the age of five, he was already being called gay by Rafe.
Rafe would make Spencer's life miserable.
When they were in middle school, Rafe got Topper to pants Spencer in the cafeteria in front of all their classmates. Spencer was humiliated by this and cried himself to sleep for a week.
In high school, when Rafe won prom king, during his speech, he was so drunk, he outed Spencer to the entire school—so everyone knew that he was gay.
Why did Rafe do all this to Spencer? Because Rafe has always been secretly in love with him, he tortured him because he couldn't cope with the fact that he wanted him.
Rafe knew he wasn't gay, he didn't find any men attractive—but Spencer was the exception. But he's also only ever been with women, so he was very confused.
He thought it would be easier to hate Spencer than love him.
They're adults now and Rafe can't hide from it much longer. So, when Spencer comes home from college for the summer, Rafe tries to fix the damage he caused.
Spencer is hesitant. After all, Rafe did everything in his power to make him miserable for 16 years straight. But, Rafe is persistent—he's not used to getting something he wants.
There's something standing in the way though—Rafe's internalized homophobia and his girlfriend, Sofia.
However, Spencer believes that everything happens for a reason and he gives into Rafe, despite all the criticism telling him not to.
