"Fucking shit!" I cursed as I took in hints from the conversations that went on in the living room.

"What now? Why are you cursing out of the blue in broad daylight?" My sister questioned, more like retorted as I paced in my room back and forth almost hyperventilating at the thought of having to see him at the dinner tonight.

"What on earth is wrong with these folks? Dinner? Tonight? With the Morrison's?! For real?! Ughgh!! " I pulled my hair in frustration at the mere thought of it.

"The last I checked, the Morrison's were your most favourite family around, the ideal one? Well....I can't say about one certain Morrison-"

"Oh shut up! I don't give a fuck! I don't care at all!" I cut off whatever the bullshit she was insinuating.

"Okayyy...jeez! I didn't even say a thing. It's your reaction that tells a different story altogether! You clearly aren't over your ex, darling! Face it." My sister stated in a matter of factly tone.

I showed her my greatest sarcastic smile followed by the middle finger and slammed on her face the door to the ensuite bathroom as I entered it.

I turned on the faucet and then looked at myself in the mirror to give myself a pep talk.

"Listen lady, YOU.DON'T. GIVE.A FUCK! Okay? Whoever comes at your place tonight, meet them, greet them and get it done with. Good girl."

I then splashed a lot of cold water on my heat radiating face.

By the time I got dressed for the dinner and went down, everyone was already settled at the dining table and almost in the middle of small talks. I took in the scene before me and wanted to bang my head somewhere hard when I realized the only seat left vacant was the one to the left of him.

So much for hating this! I thought.

Sucking in a breath to gather my decent self together, I greeted everyone, masking my usual bubbly smile. "Good evening everyone!" That brought all the attention to me.

I tried not to shudder by suddenly being under the spotlight.

"Oh hey Bella! We've been waiting for you to start. Come on." Mrs. Morisson greeted me back and I smiled back at her pointedly avoiding a certain pair of eyes that had been digging holes all through my right temple.

I walked around the table to get seated but before I could, I froze in my place when he got up from his place and apparently very courteously pulled the chair- the only one vacant, yes the one beside him.

Could he make things anymore awkwardly worse?!

I gave him a tight-lipped smile, not wanting to make anything obvious, especially before the two families.

"Okay people, not like I am a headwoman y'all need permission to start eating from. Please just dig in already, the food smells finger licking delicious."

I remarked noticing how everyone had suddenly paused and did all but stare at me. My remark earned a few chuckles and light laughs and well a certain moron's evil smirk, which I noticed from the corner of my eyes. Something in me told what thoughts had that smirk emerge all of a sudden.
