{The secret of getting ahead is starting}

(Y/N POV)

I manage to pass the course without complications. How I pass, well, not how I passed but how Izuku passed was interesting.

It took me a moment to climb the wall in the obstacle course, then landing to have to pass explosions was a but nerve-wracking. Kacchan used his explosions to fly past, and Todoroki used his ice as a skating course basically, and I did the same. Something I caught from watching Ashido a while back, is using my Quirk on my feet.

The water surrounded my feet up to my ankles, on the ground as well and I slid. I used it like a flat slide, just going quickly. Since I had myself lifted just an inch off the ground, the bombs underneath the ground didn't catch the motion of the water, so I managed to go with ease.

I got distracted for a moment, though. A loud explosion went off, and my gaze instinctively went to Katsuki, but he was confused as well. I turned my head upwards, seeing a flying.. Izuku?! He was in the air, on top of a piece of a robot.

And flew past everyone after using Todoroki and Bakugo as a step.

"WHOA, AND FLYING AHEAD IZUKU MIDORIYA! ERASER HEAD, YOUR STUDENTS ARE AMAZING! WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU FEEDING THEM?!"

"Nothing. This has nothing to do with me, they're each powered by their own drive to succeed."

"There ya have it! Eraserhead is a horrible teacher!"

"I'm WHAT?!"

I was pushing myself to keep going. I manage to pass the minefield, now just running ahead. Many people were behind me, and only three were ahead of me.

"And now, COMING IN FIRST, FROM CLASS 1-A IS YOUR WINNER ... IZUKU MIDORIYA IS OUR CHAMPION!"

My heart thumps.

"FOLLOWED BY SHOTO TODOROKI AND KATSUKI BAKUGO- ALSO FROM CLASS 1-A!"

Thump.

"AANDD... Y/N L/N, CLASS 1-A WHO IS FOLLOWED BY IBARA SHIOZAKI FROM CLASS 1-B AND-...."

I was panting, a smile on my face while I was looking down. I got fourth! There were so many people, and I topped in the top 5! Thats amazing. I can do this..

"Y/N!" Izuku called out, "Good job!"

Yeah, says you who got first without using your Quirk ONCE.

"Haha, you too 'Zuku!" I congratulate, giving him a high-five in the process. I was going to speak up again, but in the distance (even though Present Mic was loudly yelling) I heard someone.

"Deku.. No way... Not again.." Katsuki mumbled to himself. I catch Todoroki glancing at Izuku for a moment before walking away, and my heart sped up again.

"I.. You should be careful, Izuku."

"Huh?-"

"Listen. You got first in this challenge, but be prepared to be targeted." I warned, placing a hand on my friend's shoulder. He looked a bit hesitant, and confused, but that soon turned into determination as he firmly nodded to my words.

Uraraka ran up to him, congratulating him, so I walk away and ignore them.

"Hey!"

"Hey! I'm talking to you!"

"Okay." Todoroki responded.

I narrow my eyes at his uncaring attitude, "Listen. I know how you're acting towards Izuku, and I just wanna say-"

"Don't say it."

"The hell?"

"I understand your point." He turned towards me, finally stopping his walking. "But I promise that I'm not holding back on anyone, so stop trying to stand up for Midoriya." I swallowed when looking into his eyes.

"...Fine." I mumble, turning away and walking away. Todoroki didn't stop to watch, only turning back to the direction he was headed and walking again.

"LETS REVIEW THE PLACES!" A screen showing the top 42 who passed was shown, Midnight licking her lips after it finished, "Now.. the real fun is about to begin." What a creep. "Give it your best.. lets see what we have in store for you next!" She threw her whip up into the air, waving it once as the board spun for our next challenge. It stopped on..

"Calvary Battle? I'm terrible at those.." I heard Kaminari say.

Midnight explained, and showed how much points people had to start off. Wait.

"And the person in first has.. 10 MILLION!"

I'm trying to hard to help Izuku out, and they pour this into him?! I give up.

Izuku paused, frozen while stiff. Everyone looked at him with clear intent to target him, and I just facepalm. Sorry, 'Zuku. You might have to be on your own here...

"Partner up, and select your horse's positions! You have 15 minutes!"

I look around, not knowing who to partner up with. Izuku was left alone, and even though he's my best friend.. I couldn't have Ten Million set onto me.

"(Y-Y/N).! Do you wanna partner u-"

"Oh Kacchan!" I go to the nearest person who was already crowded by people in our class. I felt bad for ignoring Izuku, and I'll definitely apologize to him after this whole deal.

"Uhh... remind me all of your names and Quirks again?" He said, blinking as everyone looked surprised. Typical Katsuki.

"Oh wait, Waterfall." Katsuki said, looking at me. He looked a bit hesitant, eyes narrowing and probably sizing me up. He smirked, pointing at me, "Ok, you're on my team." Don't even get a choice, do I?!

"Uh.. O-Okay-"
"Shut up! Now.. who else is here.." He went back to scowling, looking around.

"Bakugo! I was gonna try Todoroki, but he already picked a group." A red haired boy said, smiling and revealing his spiky teeth, "So hey, we should team up!"

"Hey dumb hair." Katsuki simply greeted.

"My name is Kirishima.!" Well, Kirishima exclaimed, "And my hair isn't even all that different from yours.." Honestly, it isn't. "Come on.. You wanna be the rider, right? So you're gonna need a strong front horse who won't be hurt by your blasts! That'd be me." He showed off his hardening Quirk on his arm.

I think for a moment, before smiling and placing a hand on Katsuki's shoulder, which immediately got slapped off, "Lets do it!"

"Hm..." Katsuki said after hitting me for a moment, "I need someone with guts.."

"I'm perfect for this, man! Lets go charging into battle together. 10 million."

Katsuki smirked a toothy smile, which was a bit evil. His eyes narrowed, brows slanted down as he agreed.

And thats how our team got together. Me, Kirishima, Katsuki, and Ashido. (Sorry, Sero.)

I watch in relief as Uraraka went and paired up with Izuku, followed by Tokoyami and a pink haired girl who I didn't recognize.

I blinked before hearing Midnight speak up, "Alright! Time is up!" The R-Rated hero said.

Present Mic presented everyone with the start, and Katsuki put on everyone's headbands.

"Alright, Kacchan, Kirishima, Ashido! We got this!" I'm the right leg.

"Yeah!" Ashido and Kirishima agreed in unison, but Katsuki's eyes were narrowed on the familiar green haired boy.

"Kacchan." I say. "Kacchan." Repeated.

"Tsk- what?!" He barked, looking down at me.

"Lets try to get extra points in case we miss the ten million." I suggest. Katsuki grumbled a bit before giving me a, "Fine. But we'll get it."
