On Wednesday morning I woke to a knocking at the door. It was short and sharp, seeing as I'd only just moved in a decided to ignore it, as I knew it wouldn't be Chris, not this early in the morning.
I'd fallen asleep on a row of boxes last night, seeing as I couldn't be bothered to put up my bed. I hadn't got much sleep, so I was achy and tired. I dragged myself up into a sitting position, stretching out my back and yawning widely. It felt so early! I grabbed my phone from the floor and checked the time.
5:47am?!
Wait.. Who was knocking on my door at 5:47..?
I jumped up and ran to the door. A note had been posted through the letter box. I opened it nervously. It read:
You can run, but you can't hide.
A lump formed in my throat and my mouth went dry. I knew exactly who the note was from. But I just didn't want to think about it. There was so much of my past I wanted to forget! That's why I moved! All I want is a fresh start.
"Just breath, everything with be fine" I whispered to myself for reassurance.
But I could feel my palms sweating, my breathing increasing. My heart was pounding in my temples and I felt like I might faint.
And I was right.
And suddenly everything was dark. And I was alone.
So much for a fresh start...
