I stared blankly at my stained gloves. It had been the eighth time this week that my white gloves were drenched in blood. At this point, I was numb to it and I couldn't muster up a reaction. I slowly peeled my gloves off of my fingers and cast the stained gloves aside.
Aro burst into the room worriedly, practically ripping the door off the hinges. "Is there anything that you need, Amaryllis? Are you hungry?" In his arms, he carried a basket full of blood bags.
The sight and smell of blood invoked nothing but feelings of disgust. "I just coughed up my last meal. Why would I be eager to ingest another?"
Aro set the basket down and sighed like a worried mother. "You don't eat nearly enough. I'm worried for you, you're looking paler than usual." Aro cupped my face with his hands.
"I'm not interested in draining a human until their head rolls off." I attempted to gently pull his hands away from my face but it was no use, he wasn't catching the hint. "Drinking three blood bags in one sitting is more than plenty."
Aro crinkled his brows and shook his head. "It's less than you deserve. You deserve to eat like a queen." Aro wasn't satisfied with the way I chose to feed. He claimed that feeding straight from the vein would relieve me of my 'dietary' issues.
I yanked Aro's hands off of my face."I deserve to be allowed to leave this room. I deserve to talk to others."
"Is Han not enough for you?" Aro questioned.
I scoffed. Of course, having a fifteen-year-old human boy play an instrument for me wasn't enough. "Han and his violin are lovely. But I need more. I no longer wish to live like this."
"Do I need to call Lyla? I'm sure she would love to pay you a visit." Aro suggested with a smirk.
"I don't want sex, Aro. I want to leave this room." Although the offer was very tempting, I knew it wouldn't solve my discontentment. I knew this from previous experience.
"There's not much happening around here lately. We're all having a long and taxing conversation. It's not much fun to be a part of." Aro told me.
A long conversation, with people other than Aro, sounded like music to my ears. I perked up at the thought. "I'm sure anything will be better than being stuck in this bed hacking up my food."
"Would you like more entertainment? I can find someone to play the tuba." I crossed my arms, dissatisfied. "Or! Or I can tell Lyla to bring a friend?"
"I would like out of this fucking Hellhole!" I groaned. "Would you rather argue amongst your friends or would you rather live like I am?"
"I-I-I..." Aro stammered on the same syllable while he tried to find an answer. He settled on deflection, as he always did. He simply pulled me into his arms and planted a sweet kiss on my forehead. I tried not to grimace in disgust. "I am trying to protect you. It's not the greatest idea to have you roaming about when we have no clue what your issue is or how to solve it."
"Wrong answer." I kicked Aro in the shin and stepped over his body when he fell to the floor in pain. I had no trouble walking out of the room and leaving Aro wailing in agony.
I found myself aimlessly walking around the castle in search of someone to talk to. I wasn't accustomed to the design of this place considering that I had been practically locked up since the beginning of my creation.
How many years ago was that? I knew it had at least been five. I met Han when he was ten; now his sixteenth birthday was just months away.
It wasn't long before Aro caught up to me. Furious as ever. "Amaryllis! Get back in your room where it's safe!"
