As the days passed, Cassie found herself recovering faster than she expected. TZhe wounds inflicted by Megatron—both physical and emotional—should have left her bedridden for much longer. Yet, every day, her strength returned, and her body seemed to heal at an unusual rate. At first, she thought it was her resilience or the care Jetfire had given her. But soon, both of them began to realize something far stranger was happening.
Cassie sat on the edge of their shared quarters, stretching her arms and wincing as she touched the skin around where the bruises had once been. Only faint traces remained, and even those seemed to be fading quicker than they should.
Jetfire entered the room, his optics scanning her carefully. He had been watching her recovery closely, always feeling the pull of their bond and sensing her improvements. But now, there was an unease growing inside him—something wasn't right.
"You're healing... too fast," Jetfire muttered, kneeling down in front of her, his large frame carefully inspecting the spots where her worst injuries had been.
Cassie looked at him and smiled. "I thought you'd be happy about that."
"I am," he said, but his tone was laced with concern. "But this isn't normal, Cassie. Humans don't heal this quickly. Not even with the medical treatment we've given you."
Cassie tilted her head, a curious expression crossing her face. "You're right. But maybe it's the bond we share? Maybe I'm picking up on some of your healing properties."
Jetfire's optics narrowed, and though he wanted to believe it, something deeper told him this was more than just the bond.
"We need to see Red Alert," Jetfire said, his voice firm but gentle. "I need him to check you over."
Cassie could see the concern in his optics, and though she felt fine—better than fine, even—she nodded in agreement. "Alright. But I think you're overreacting, Jetfire. I feel great."
Jetfire managed a small smile, but the unease lingered. "I hope you're right."
The faint glow of the Autobot base's lights reflected off the cool metal walls as Jetfire quietly made his way toward the medbay, cradling Cassie gently in his arms. He glanced around, making sure no one was around to see them. The last thing he wanted was for the other Autobots to start asking questions about why he was being so secretive—especially when it came to Cassie's condition.
As they reached the medbay, Red Alert was already waiting. His optics flickered with concern as Jetfire carefully set Cassie down on one of the examination tables.
"Jetfire, you said her wounds were healing quicker than expected?" Red Alert asked, immediately scanning Cassie with his diagnostic equipment.
Jetfire nodded, his expression tense. "Yeah. Much quicker than normal, actually. I wasn't sure if that was good or..."
Before he could finish, the scanner beeped, and Red Alert's optics widened in surprise. He studied the readings on the display, his expression shifting from confusion to deep intrigue.
"Her body..." Red Alert murmured, leaning closer to the screen. "It's changing."
Cassie sat up, feeling stronger than she had in days, the soreness in her muscles nearly gone. "Changing?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity. "What do you mean?"
Red Alert turned to face her, his optics focused. "It looks like you're becoming something... different. Your organic cells are fusing with Cybertronian technology. It's as if your body is adapting—transforming—into a techno-organic form."
