As soon as I had placed the shelf back in place, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Not wanting to get caught so fast, I sped out of sight and hid behind some shelves.

However, my heart jumped when I saw who had just snuck into the basement. I would recognise that gorgeous face anywhere, even if he wasn't alone.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped out from my hiding place and called out to him. "Stiles!"

He spun around at the sound of my voice. His eyes widened and I noticed how his face lit up. We ran towards each other and wrapped our arms around each other. The world stopped as he held me in his arms.

After a while, I pulled away but held onto him. I looked him in the eyes as I said, "I love you too". He stared at me for a moment, as if processing what I had just said, before planting his lips on mine.

"I'll leave you alone," I heard a voice from the background, bringing us back to reality.

I watched as the girl made her way to the stairs. Before she completely disappeared, I called out to her. "Malia!"

She stopped and turned around.

I sent her a small smile. "I'm glad to see you're doing well". She took one last look at me before walking out the door.

As soon as she was gone, Stiles turned to me. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to get you out of here!"

He looked past me at the shelf I had just gone through then he looked behind himself at the rest of the shelves with documents scattered everywhere. After a while, he looked back at me and sighed. "I can't leave yet". My eyes narrowed in confusion. "There has to be some information about this thing in my mind. If I can bring something back for Scott and the others... I have to help them somehow".

I looked around at all the papers lying everywhere, looked back at him, and sighed. "You don't have to go rifling through all this junk, I'll tell you everything I know".

I grabbed his hand and led him to the old, dusty couch in the middle of the basement. I had never seen Stiles look so... focused. My eyes never left his as I told him my history with Noshiko and the Nogitsune.

Flashback

It was the 1940s. I was taking a break from Damon to revisit one of the towns I had resided in. I hadn't been in Beacon Hills for long when I discovered that this town had been home to a World War II internment for Japanese prisoners of war. The internment camp was in a building in the heart of Beacon Hills known as Oak Creek.

I quickly decided to take a look at these prisoners for myself. It wasn't difficult to sneak in, thanks to my "powers of persuasion".

As I was snooping, I ran into this young woman. She looked like a teenager, but I could sense something different about her. I knew she was no ordinary human. I decided to keep an eye on her until I discovered what was so different about her, so I befriended her.

I grew quite fond of her. I learned over time – both from magic and from trust – that her name was Noshiko Yukimura. She was a Kitsune and was actually a bit younger than I was – about 100 years, to be exact. She was a bit over 800 years old. She was a POW, however, she had fallen in love with an American soldier who was stationed at Oak Creek. His name was Rhys and she would sneak out regularly to rendezvous with him. He seemed like a good person.

One night, I was on my way to meet up with Noshiko when I noticed a riot outside the building. I watched as Noshiko got shot several times while trying to break up the riot. I ran up to her to check on her condition. She wasn't moving, however, I could hear her heartbeat, and that meant she was still alive.
