This could be a disaster, there's so many factors Like, what if you freak out and then we're losin' it all? Disaster, Conan Gray
The powdery snow flares up onto my face, coating my goggles as I slide into a stop at the bottom of the mountain. Cam tumbles down the mountain, gliding in next to me a full two seconds later.
"I win!" I exclaim, sliding up my snow-covered goggles.
"And so humble about it too," Cam smiles, mimicking my motions to reveal his sparking green eyes. "What were we racing for?"
I shrug. "Whatever you wanted to get me."
Cam scoffs, "I say we ski a few more rounds, then get some hot chocolate at that little cafe. We saw it on the way up here."
"And you're paying," I bat my eyes up at him.
"Anything for you." he replies with an eye roll and smile.
"Great," I call out over my shoulder as I begin skiing to the lift. "Race you up!"
After mercilessly beating Cam down every slope we chose, we head over to the cute cafe in the nearby ski town.
Inside, it's cosy and warm, and we spot May with Prescott at one of the rustic tables.
"Hey guys," Cam announces out presence by swiping a bit of Prescott's biscuit."Decided not to hit the slopes today?"
Their laughter stops abruptly. "Well," Responds May. "We did just fly, so um...we really just wanted to get to know each other better."
I roll my eyes internally, then set my phone down on the table, taking a seat next to May and waving over a waitress."How can I help you today, ma'am?"
I glance at Camden. "We'll have two hot chocolates, extra whipped cream on one, with a slice of apple pie, a chocolate croissant, and two raspberry bars."
She gives a little smile. "Right away."
"Oh come on, sit next to Camden!" May exclaims. "I'll switch seats with you."
"No, it's fine, really." I smile at her.
But she's already standing up, displaying a beautiful grey wool dress. "Go on, I already stood up."
I shake my head. "Alright then." As I awkwardly stumble to my feet, ski boots making it difficult to walk, my phone begins to ring, and CHANTAL flashes across the screen. Oh shit shit shit
"Oh, Trinity, your phone's ringing." May says and picks it up, handing it to Cam.
Oh god, he answers it.
"Trinity! Thank god I've reached you! Billions are at stake here!" I can hear her voice scream through the microphone, even though it's not on speaker.
Cam's face goes stony as I stumble into my chair and snatch the phone from him.
"Hey Chantal, it's really not the best time right now."
"But Trinity, it's urgent."
"What's wrong?" I ask, pulling out a sigh, eying Cam, who is now furiously typing on his own phone.
"We need to pull out an investment. The company changed hands and we have insider news of a huge down fall - a crash."
"Okay, okay, fine. Do it. I trust you and the team."
