Kairos Vasileiou
As I walked beside Elle, I couldn't help but steal glances at her. The sunlight illuminated her brown hair as it fell in soft waves down her back.
She wore a black mini skirt paired with a cozy gray sweater that hugged her frame just right. How she managed to make something skimpy to presentable was beyond me. And how she was not sweating her ass off?
Leading her toward the cozy egg chair nestled between a couple of trees. I'd made sure to clear the lounge area before we arrived. A quick text to my crew had the place ready for us. I needed it cleared.
As we arrived, I gestured for her to sit first. She settled in, a smile lighting up her face. I glanced over at the tray that had been set on the side of the chair, gleaming with a couple of champagne flutes and a note that read, "To Elle and Kairos—enjoy!"
Well, that's a nice touch. I didn't even plan for the champagne, but I'm not complaining. Sure, she might get suspicious, but I'd eventually have to come clean about owning the cruise line.
I plopped down beside her, trying to fit my long legs into the snug space while she sat on her legs curled up.
I watched her eyes sparkle with excitement as she leaned forward to reach into her candy bag. I watched her pull out a handful of colorful gummies, and a grin spread across my face.
Leaning back feeling the warmth of the sun on my face. She must love this chair if she keeps coming back. Should I take notes for a future gift? "Dear Elle, congratulations on your egg chair loyalty. Here's a personalized blanket to keep you cozy."
As she popped a gummy bear into her mouth, I couldn't help but admire the way her features lit up. She was relaxed here, her laughter ringing like music in the air. I felt a sense of ease that I rarely experienced, and I wanted to hold onto it for as long as I could.
"What's your favorite candy?" I asked, already knowing the answer. "These." She dangled the worm in front of my face with her perfectly manicured nails. "Open up." I listened to her, opening my mouth so she could feed me.
She laughed, her hazel eyes sparkling with mischief as I chewed. They were disgusting. I hated candy. Made my teeth hurt.
"Now it's your turn." I held out another gummy, and she leaned forward, her lips brushing against my fingers as she took it. I could feel my heart race a bit. I need to control myself.
We finished off the candy, laughter still dancing between us as I wiped a stray gummy residue from my fingers. The sun hung high in the sky casting a warm glow over everything.
"Those were good," Elle said, leaning back in the egg chair, a satisfied smile on her lips. The sun highlights each of the features. I hummed in response. I leaned back, and slowly I slipped my arm around her shoulders, feeling her warmth against me. I could sense her surprise, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she relaxed into me, and a small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.
"Is this your secret way of keeping me from falling overboard?" she teased, her tone light and playful. "Maybe." I leaned my head closer to hers, my nose gently rubbing against the side of her face.
And to think just months prior I was hearing her name, wondering who the fuck she was, to now holding her in my arms.
She groaned and moved slightly, raising one leg up that was stretched out. Now it was hitting me. Our position, it simply being her, and the fact no one was around. I wanted to control myself, almost losing focus earlier, but the feeling was getting much harder to ignore.
