His niece's birthday party ended in a mess, yet very enjoyable. His siblings were all there, including Alison who made peace with them, along with his nieces. He had a nice chat with his siblings and felt secretly relaxed, knowing he was in a comfortable environment.
After the party, he put on his fake mustache and paired it with a newsboy cap as he entered the small gathering, filled with a few people holding champagne glasses. He was a bit relieved that Y/N really did manage to help him and give him even more clues to his case. The image of her smoking never ceases to amaze him, or perhaps everything she does amazes him.
"These are the real Keepers. Best of the best." the man who invited him said as he looked around the people chattering. His eyes stopped at a woman in particular with dark curly hair, wearing a pearl necklace and red dress while holding a champagne glass, talking with some people.
He excused himself before walking past her and grabbing himself a nametag, "So, this is book club, is it?" he asked, making her face fall, and excused herself from the guests. "You blow my cover, I'll rip your balls up," she said in a discreet tone, "You're gonna blow my cover." he replied while writing his name.
"Nice mustache, by the way. What are you supposed to be? A greek serial killer?" she asked and he chuckled, "I'll have you know this is top-of-the-line horse hair. The real question is, what are you doing here, "Nancy"?" he asked, making her roll her eyes.
"Let's just say the transition from full-time assassin to full-time caregiver to three small children and one chunky husband is no picnic. I needed to get outside of the house. I saw a sign and took a chance." she explained, "It's cheaper than therapy." she added before sticking his nametag on his shirt, "But you know, these losers might be on to something."
He was about to reply when his eyes landed on a familiar woman talking to someone, her hair tied neatly while wearing a black dress matched with black gloves and pearl earrings as she listened attentively to a group of people. And just like that, she stole his attention once again, making Lila notice and look in the direction he was looking at.
Her eyes widened once he saw the woman, "Is that-" she asked, "Y/N." he answered, still gazing at her. "I can't believe it. I-I thought she was dead..." she whispered. She was about to walk towards her but Five immediately grabbed her wrist to stop her, "What the hell are you doing?" he whisper-hiss.
"To talk to her, duh. Don't you want to talk to your wife after years of agony?" Lila asked, "We can't, alright? Things are complicated right now." he objected, making her scoff. "What the hell is wrong with you? This is your only chance," she replied, about to walk to her again but a man suddenly interrupted them.
"If everyone can take their seats, the presentation's about to begin." he announced and everyone began finding their seats. A couple suddenly entered, causing him to frown, "Who are these people?" he asked, "You never heard of Gene and Jean? Sure you're part of the right CIA?" Lila asked, "Just spit it out." he demanded.
"Okay! Gene and Jean started the first chapter in Clovis, New Mexico. Since then, the movement has been everywhere." she explained as the lights were turned off, seeing Jean starting the presentation.
☂
The lights turned on after the presentation and everyone stood up, his eyes immediately found his wife, seeing her bidding goodbye to some people. Lila grabbed her coat and looked at him, "I know what you're thinking. Let's go." she said as they both followed the woman outside.
Luckily, they spotted her standing alone on the side of the street. Five swallowed and gathered all his strength before speaking, "Y/N." he called and she slowly looked back, seeing him with a strange woman.
