The next morning, Kylie groaned as her alarm rang shrilly at 6am. She sat up, immediately regretting having agreed to Ruby's invitation. This better be worth it, she thought, rubbing her eyes wearily as she dragged herself out of bed.
The day seemed to drag on endlessly. Kylie found herself checking the time every few minutes, the hours seeming to crawl by. Get a grip, Kylie. It's just a party. Nothing more.
Finally, her long, boring shift ended. She clocked out, feeling both relieved and anxious. Now she had to face the real challenge: getting ready for the party.
At home, Kylie was standing in front of her closet, feeling more clueless than ever. Just put something sexy on, huh?
She rummaged through her clothes, but nothing seemed quite right. Everything felt either too boring or too out of her comfort zone. "Dammit, why is this so hard?" she muttered to herself, beginning to feel frustrated.
Suddenly someone knocked on her front door.
Kylie's head snapped towards the front door, her heart skipping a beat. Who the hell would be at her door this late?
Making her way to the door, she checked through the peephole, her eyes widening when she saw who it was. Opening the door, she gave Ruby a surprised look. "Rubes?"
"Hey girl, are you not ready?" Ruby asked when she saw kylie in a shirt and sweatpants.
"Well, I was just about to start getting ready," Kylie admitted, gesturing to her current outfit. "But you're early. I thought you weren't picking me up 'till seven?"
"Yeah, well it's still not that early. It's six, need help?"
Kylie hesitated for a moment, but then sighed in resignation. "You know what? Yeah, I could use some help. I'm completely lost with what to wear," she confessed, stepping aside to let Ruby in.
"Oh trust me, I can tell." Ruby said pushing her aside, walking straight to kylie's room.
Kylie rolled her eyes but couldn't help but laugh at her best friend's bluntness. She followed Ruby into her room, watching as she made a beeline for her closet.
Ruby wasted no time, plunging into Kylie's closet with a determined look on her face. "Right.. we're going to find you something hot. And by hot I don't mean pajamas," she said, tossing items of clothing over her shoulder without a second glance.
Kylie sighed, leaning against the wall as she watched Ruby riffle through her clothes. She felt a bit like a project, but somehow, it was also a relief. She had absolutely no idea what to wear, and Ruby's help was welcomed, even if it was a bit... enthusiastic.
Ruby suddenly gasped loudly.
Kylie's attention was immediately drawn to Ruby's gasp, her eyebrows raising in curiosity. "What? What is it?" she asked, straightening up from her leaning position against the wall.
"This is perfect!" Ruby exclaimed, holding a grey top out of fur along with a matching short skirt with little pink bows on each side.
Kylie's eyes widened as she saw the outfit Ruby was holding up. Oh god, no... The skirt was so short it would barely cover anything, let alone her curves. She shook her head, her face scrunching up in protest. "That's not- no way. That'll show everything," she protested, a flush rising to her cheeks.
"Oh come on girl, the top has kinda long sleeves, and we could put a short button up shirt underneath and roll up the sleeves!" Ruby said excited.
Kylie still looked skeptical, her doubts written all over her face. But a small flicker of intrigue was starting to stir in her eyes. "It's... really short, Ruby," she pointed out again, glancing at the skirt. "I mean, are you sure it won't look... too much?"
