Sebastian was sitting on the couch, reading his daily newspaper as Juliette got inside through the living room door, having just returned from work. She only muttered a "Hello" and he nodded her way as he went back to the piece of paper he was reading.
It was always like this, every day, where he was stuck doing whatever mundane tasks he was doing since his job released him way earlier than Juliette's. And they barely greeted each other.
She remembered when they were dating in high school, having been affectionate and unable to leave each other alone for more than 2 minutes, they married in college when they were only in their 20s. During their honeymoon, they spent their time laughing and kissing and cuddling and they could never dream of being distant from each other. Now here they were, 5 years into their marriage.
"How was your work?" He said with a stoic voice, his eyes facing the newspaper, she looked at him and simply responded. "Boring..just as always.." He nodded and continued flipping through the pages. She sighed and made her way upstairs to their bedroom, she had noticed how distant he had been and thought of ways she could spark their marriage.
She opened her messages which she had to ignore all day due to her demanding job as a nurse, it was exhausting today since the patients kept calling for every demand, even to move their pillow one bit but the satisfaction of seeing them getting healed was the best she could have. She tapped on the message of her older sister, Rosaline, asking her how she was, she only responded with "Good and you?" as if she was. She saw Orion's messages, her younger brother complaining about his class and his football coach annoying him. Then she saw her best friend, Alex's message, he had been sending her Instagram reels all day, and she chuckled, their chats were always filled with each other sending some reels only for the both of them to send reaction messages to each other.
She removed her scrubs, put on an oversized T-shirt and shorts, and got downstairs where Sebastian was still in the living room but now on his phone smiling, but the moment he saw her, he went back to his stoic expression.
"What's so funny?" She smiled, wanting to create a simple light-hearted conversation. He just shook his head. "Nothing, just some joke at work." He simply responded, she felt as if he was cold and she wanted to bring this up but she didn't want to start an argument at this hour when she was already exhausted so she only nodded and went to the kitchen to heat up some food. She's asking herself where her honeymoon phase went and their love and affection, where did it go...She was only left with the cold hard shell of a man.

Later that night, she washed her face and put on her night clothes. Making sure she put on the sexy night clothes she had since their honeymoon. She slowly approached their bed as he was lying there, his phone in hand. She slowly trailed her hand on his chest and trailed down to his abdomen, biting his earlobe and chuckling lowly. But then, he awkwardly pushed her away, she looked at him with surprise.
"Are you okay? Is something wrong?" She asked with concern in her tone.
"Yeah...I'm just...not in the mood tonight"
"I just saw that our marriage had been cold lately, I-" She was cut off by his hand waving in the air dismissively.
"It's okay. Just leave it." He replied coldly.
She only looked at him turning to the other side of the bed, facing away from her. She felt tears pricked at her eyes but resisted not wanting to show her weakness. What happened to her loving husband...
