Lyric woke up with a faint groan, her hand instinctively reaching to rub her forehead as she blinked against the early light filtering through the blinds. She stretched lazily, rolling over in bed, only to be met with an empty space beside her. The spot where Trevon usually lay cold, as if he'd been gone for a while.
She smiled to herself, figuring he had headed out early to take care of some business. Trevon was always handling something, always on the move. Sighing, Lyric slid out of bed and padded over to the bathroom. The warm shower was refreshing waking her up fully, and she found herself humming softly as she washed her hair and let the water run over her shoulders. She wondered what Trevon was doing, hoping he was staying safe.
After getting dressed and tidying up a bit around the room, she heard her phone buzz on the counter. Wrapping her towel around her damp hair, she quickly reached for it, glancing at the caller of Trevon's name flashed across the screen. Without hesitation, she picked up.
"Hey, baby", she greeted warmly
"Hey, beautiful," Trevon's voice through, smooth and laid-back that streetwise tone in his voice that always made her smile. "Got something planned for us later. You down"?
Lyric leaned against the counter already intrigued. "Oh you do, huh? What got in mind"?
Trevon chuckled softly, the sound low and confident. Just trust me. "I got somethin' real nice lined up, but you gotta be ready. Lookin' your best all that."
Her heart fluttered a little. "You know I'll be ready for you, Tre. I'm already curious!"
He paused, then added with that relaxed drawl, "Aight. I'll pick u up around seven. Be lookin' like my queen aight?"
Lyric laughed, feeling that warmth she always did when he called her his queen. She could almost see the easy smile he wore on the other end of the line. "Ok, baby. I'll be ready".
They shared a few more words, his voice a comforting presence that lingered even after they said goodbye and she eat her phone down.
