Taylors POV
June 29th, 2023

"You can't be serious!" I shouted, glaring across the table at my parents.

"Taylor, come on honey it's not that bad." my mom sighed.

"Yes it is! You are telling me I have to move halfway across the country! My entire life is here, all of my friends are here. The reason I took a gap year was so I had more time at home and I could focus on my music!" There was no way I was leaving, they couldn't make me.

"They have a wonderful music program in Kansas City. Besides, you would have only had one more year here anyway, you were planning on going to college next year" My dad was really trying to sell it, but honestly nothing was gonna make me agree to this.

"Exactly! Why can't you wait a year? Then I'll be off at college with Austin and you can move wherever you want." I just couldn't understand why this had to happen now.

"Because Andy asked me to come help him out this year. He said if all goes well he'll put in a good word for me when he retires after this season."

"But, why-" I was interrupted by the sound of my dad's chair squeaking against the floor as he stood up.

"Stop arguing, Taylor. We are moving in two weeks and that's final." My dad scolded before he turned and walked upstairs, probably going to do work in his office.

I felt tears brimming in my eyes as I lowered my head in defeat. I don't know how long I sat there like that, trying to keep myself from fully sobbing. Eventually, I felt my mom's hand on my back, rubbing slow circles.

"Look, I know this isn't ideal for you but at least try and be supportive of your father. This is a big deal for him."

"I know." I sighed, I really didn't have any fight left in me right now.

"Who knows, you may end up really liking Kansas City." My mom smiled.

Yeah I highly doubt that.
