Scarlett P.O.V.
The inside of Shaun's sports car was sleek and it smelled almost new or like it had just been cleaned. I had never struggled with money being an alpha female, but with the way Shaun was always dressed and now being inside his sports car I find it hard to believe that he isn't even more well off. Between my bouncing nerves I was trying to subtly catch glances of Shaun out of the corner of my eye. The way his hand gripped the steering wheel causing muscles to pop in his veiny forearms. The way his bicep tensed causing it to pop slightly under his shirt. The way his shirt clung to his chest and shoulder but got loser around his narrow waist.
'If you are going to keep eye fucking him, then the least you could do is get a taste,' said Snow in my mind.
'I was not eye fucking him. If anything it was you,' I quickly shot back.
'Trust me if it had been me I would have been doing more than just looking,' she purred in my head.
'Are you serious Snow? Now you are purring for him,' I accused clearly not impressed with my wolfs inability to control her horny self.
"You know if you are going to check me out and then argue with your wolf about it, you could at least be more subtle," said Shaun with a smirk as he glanced at me.
I had been caught and I really didn't have an excuse. I was checking him out even if it was more subconscious. This stupid mate bond had me doing things I would never do before. "My wolf, Snow, seems to find you rather attractive," I mumbled not wanting to admit anything but not knowing a better lie.
Shaun's face erupts into a huge grin before responding, "Percy is very happy to hear that and he can't wait to meet her."
I tensed my jaw realizing that I slipped up by mentioning my wolf. Most of my lack thinks I'm wolf less and now I had just admitted to Shaun that I had a wolf and of course him and his wolf would want to meet her. Little did they know that couldn't happen. I instead kept my gaze out the side passenger window for the next portion of the drive. I could see Beta Jake and our lead warrior Johnathon following behind us in a SUV. It was comforting to have their presence close, but I also knew I could define myself if anything happened.
As we continued driving my leg started to bounce with anticipation and nerves. I hadn't looked Shaun's direction in close to a hour but I couldn't help myself from looking over as I felt his hand land just above my knee to stop it from bouncing.
"Relax Scarlett. I can literally feel the nervous energy coming off you in waves. There's nothing to be worried about," he said flashing me his signature smile.
"What if they hate me?" I suddenly blurt out, alerting to him my fear of meeting his family and friends.
Shaun seems a bit taken back, "First I'm honestly a bit shocked to hear you say that. I didn't think you cared what they thought of you since you aren't interested in a mate."
Ok I deserved that. I have been rude, uninterested, and bitchy. I can't blame him for saying that when I have struggled to give him a real shot. Snow whines in my head, hating that our mate thinks that of us. Even though I have been standoffish, I promised myself and Jess that I would try to be more open and I intend to be that. Before I can get her my thoughts and respond, he continues speaking.
"I am happy to know you are nervous though because it shows you care, even if you aren't ready to admit it. I know for a fact that they are all going to love you. My family has been waiting a long time for me to find my mate, but I promise they will love you," he said while taking my hand pressing a kiss to the back and then lacing his fingers with mine on the center console. I don't pull back. Somehow the tingles are helping to calm my nerves.
