Subway rides at night are the worst.

Period.

I cannot enumerate the number of times a stranger has stepped- or nearly stepped- on my foot. All my life my parents have mentioned how bad rush hour was but they never told me about this! This is rush hour phase two where people who were too impatient to wait for a taxi or work after hours come in. Except this time, people are much worse than the normal rush hour because they just really want to get home in time to watch their favorite TV show. It also didn't do us any favors because we were in a rush as well so you can imagine how chaotic it was having to push our way through people to get onto the train before the doors close.

"I can finally breathe!" cried Farkle in exasperation as soon as we step foot onto the train.

"Don't savor it too much yet, we still have the challenge of getting out the train station." reminded Maya.

"We need to get off here. At this station." I ignored them, standing on my tiptoes and poked the spot where our destination was labelled on the map.

"Let me guess..." my mom pursed her lips, "Is the place we're going to the same place you sneaked off to a few months ago after you lied to us you were going to Maya's house?"

My eyes widened.

How did she know that was a lie? I never told her anything in the end...

I stared at her guiltily but smiled at the same time as innocently as I could.

"Maybe...?"

My mom laughed and shook her head.

"You know you can be a terrible liar when it comes to lying to my face right? I know you Riley, I can read you like an open book, I'm your mom after all."

My cheeks flushed.

"Sorry about that...But if you knew I was lying, why did you let me go?"

Her hand moved upwards until they were right in front of me then she pointed at my eyes.

"Your eyes, Riley. Did you know that every time you thought of him or had him in mind; a distinct sparkle appears in them?"

Instinctively, my hand shot its way up near my eye and the tips of my fingers rested on top of my lower eyelid.

"Really?"

She nodded, "Mhm!"

I grinned like a fool.

"Wow...Thanks mom, I never knew that."

She gave me a wink.

The train came to a stop and people started to exit and enter the train.

"Hey! There are seats over there! Grab them!" exclaimed Farkle. We all hustled onto the empty seats before anyone else could take them and Farkle cheered in victory.

For the rest of the ride, we spent it by just having some small talk and teasing some guy who was dressed weirdly a few meters away from us.

Eventually, our stop came and we had to get off. Thankfully, this time we were more prepared for the madness of the train station so it wasn't as bad as when we were just entering the station a few minutes ago.

"Oxygen!" Farkle exclaimed, throwing his arms up in the air dramatically.

"What's oxygen?" Maya asked.

Farkle glared at her and gave her a "really?" look.

"What? You know I don't pay attention in science class."

"Kids, stay together." ordered my mom. We all crossed the road together and made our way to our destination.

I could feel it.

We were so close now it was like he was calling for me.

After every step I took, the faint waft of his presence grew stronger and stronger.

Our feet crossed the lonely paths toward a clearing.

And ended up on the Imagine Mosaic.

Short chapter but I tried T_T
Since most of you are mobile users, am I the only one who has trouble writing in italic when you type out your story? I press the italic button (if you don't know what it is then it's the button that looks like an 'I' but slightly leaning to the right on the bar above the keyboard when you go into writing mode) and it turns green but when I type it turns back to orange again? It's really annoying :/

But yea anyways hope that chapter was good enough!

It was proof read as well ;)
