Kael led Elara through the heart of the forest, the mist parting around them as though it recognized its king. Elara felt the air grow colder as they ventured deeper into the woods, the trees becoming older, gnarled with age and twisted by the weight of centuries. The deeper they went, the more the light from the moon seemed to fade, leaving only a faint glow to guide their way.
"We're almost there," Kael said, his voice soft but clear in the stillness of the night.
