>>>>> It had been a month since the chaotic events that nearly tore Celestia City apart. Though the scars of that day lingered, life in the city slowly returned to normal. Buildings had been repaired, businesses reopened, and people were once again filling the streets, eager to leave the strange nightmare of the otherworldly attacks behind.

At the Celestia Police Station, the buzz of everyday life was back—paperwork piled high, detectives arguing over cases, and officers joking in the breakroom. It felt like a world away from the war Darla had fought.

But for Darla, normal wasn't something she could return to so easily. Balancing her life as a police officer and leader of the demon realm was a tightrope walk. Every day came with new challenges—both human and supernatural—and she had to keep her two worlds from colliding.

A New Routine with New Faces

"Darla, you're late again!" Captain Garcia bellowed from across the room as Darla walked in, casually tossing her jacket over her shoulder.

Darla smirked. "Don't get your feathers ruffled, Cap. I'm here now, aren't I?"

The familiar banter was a relief, a reminder that at least one thing in her life was still the same.

Zion followed closely behind her, holding two coffees. He handed one to Darla and gave her a shy grin. "Extra sugar, just how you like it."

A chorus of playful whistles erupted from across the room.

"Awww, look at that!" Officer Garry teased, nudging his partner. "Our resident rogue finally has someone fetching her coffee!"

Darla shot Garry a mock glare as the other officers snickered. "Don't you all have actual work to do?"

Kazimir strolled in behind them, his usual swagger in full effect. "What can I say, Darla? You've got a fan club."

The teasing didn't stop. "When's the wedding?" another officer called out, sending the breakroom into peals of laughter.

Zion turned beet red, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. Darla could feel her own cheeks heating up, but she crossed her arms, pretending not to care.

"You guys are impossible." She shot Zion a sideways look, amused by his embarrassment. "Ignore them. They'll move on eventually."

Zion chuckled nervously. "I don't think they will."

New Partners in the Precinct

Meanwhile, Amaia and Lirien, now senior detectives at the station, were settling into their new roles. They looked like they belonged in human society despite their fairy origins—Amaia's sharp wit matched her knack for uncovering clues, and Lirien's calm demeanor made her an excellent negotiator.

"I never imagined we'd be police officers," Lirien admitted to Amaia as they gathered around the station's whiteboard to map out their current case.

Amaia grinned. "Honestly? I kind of love it. Humans are endlessly entertaining."

Lirien smirked. "Entertaining is one word for it."

Kazimir leaned against the edge of their desk, casually tossing a pencil between his fingers. "Glad you two are fitting in. But don't get too comfortable—this station has a tendency to pull us into all kinds of weirdness."

Amaia shot him a knowing look. "Weirdness? In Celestia City? Perish the thought."

The banter between them all was light-hearted, filled with the kind of camaraderie that made the long days bearable. It was the kind of normal Darla hadn't realized she missed until now.

Despite the laughter and teasing, Darla's life remained complicated. She spent her off-hours visiting the demon realm, issuing orders to maintain peace and working with Zelphas to ensure the rebels wouldn't rise again anytime soon.

The weight of leadership was heavy, but knowing that Zion, Kazimir, Amaia, and Lirien were by her side made it easier. Together, they had forged a bond that went beyond friendship—it was a team built on trust, loyalty, and shared experiences that no one else could understand.

Back at the station, the teasing about Zion and Darla's 'relationship' refused to die down. Every time they were seen together—whether it was sharing coffee, reviewing case files, or simply walking side by side—someone in the station had a comment.

"I give it two months," Garry said one afternoon, tapping his pen against his notepad. "You'll see. They'll be dating before Christmas."

Kazimir grinned mischievously. "Nah, Darla's too stubborn. I give it three months."

Darla shot them both a glare. "I can hear you, you know."

"That's the point," Kazimir said with a wink.

Zion, for his part, was hopeless at hiding his embarrassment. His blush would flare up anytime someone made a joke, and Darla found herself both amused and exasperated by how endearing it was.

"You're not helping," Zion muttered under his breath as Darla tried—and failed—not to laugh at his expense.

Later that day, as the precinct quieted down, Darla and Zion found themselves alone in the breakroom. Zion was nursing a cup of coffee, his usual awkwardness softened by the absence of prying eyes.

"You okay?" Zion asked, glancing at her over the rim of his cup.

Darla nodded, leaning against the counter. "Yeah. It's just... weird being back here. I keep thinking about everything that happened."

Zion gave her a sympathetic look. "It's a lot to carry. But you're not alone, Darla. You've got us."

Darla smiled softly. "I know. And I'm grateful for that."

For the first time in a long while, Darla allowed herself to feel at ease. The city was healing, the rebels were silent for now, and the people she cared about were safe.

Her parents and Elyse were back to their normal lives, blissfully unaware of the battles fought to protect them. Elyse, as always, clung to Darla like a little shadow whenever she was home, filling her ears with stories of cosmic gardens and magical dreams.

It wasn't perfect—there were still dangers lurking in the shadows, and Darla knew Felonir would return eventually. But for now, there was peace.

As the day wound down, Zion caught Darla's gaze across the room, his expression warm and steady.

"We'll get through this," he said quietly, as if reading her thoughts.

Darla nodded. "Yeah. We will."

For now, she would embrace the normalcy, enjoy the banter, and cherish the moments of peace. She had two worlds to protect, a family to keep safe, and a future to build.

And with Zion, Kazimir, Amaia, and Lirien by her side, Darla knew she could face whatever challenges lay ahead—whether in the human world, the demon realm, or the fairy domain.

The war might be over for now, but Darla's journey was far from finished.

And she was ready for whatever came next.
