It would mean a lot to me!!

~

Alex stretched out lazily on his bed, his laptop resting on his stomach as he mindlessly scrolled through social media. It was Saturday, finally, after a week of nothing but lectures, note-taking, and assignments. His brain was fried, and all he wanted to do was lounge around in his hoodie and sweatpants and forget about everything for a while. The rare sight of sunlight streamed beautifully through his windows, casting a warm glow over his room, but it wasn't enough to make him want to leave his little cocoon.

He heard a knock on the front door of the apartment but thought nothing of it. Sam or Jess could deal with that. They were closer to the door anyway. Alex's room was right at the end. He sighed, turning over onto his side, ready to lose himself in some meaningless show on Netflix, when there was a soft knock on his bedroom door.

"Hey, Alex?" Sam's voice called from the hallway.

He turned and glanced toward the door, lazily sitting up. "Yeah?"

The door creaked open, and Sam popped her head in, a mischievous grin plastered on her face. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah, why?" Alex asked, frowning.

"Well..." she smirked, "Luke's here."

Alex physically froze, his heart skipping a beat or two. "W-What?"

"Luke. He's in the living room," Sam repeated, her grin widening, clearly enjoying his reaction. "He asked if you were home."

Alex's eyes widened in panic. He looked down at himself. His hair was a mess, his hoodie was stained with remnants of random stuff it had picked up along the way, and he was wearing a pair of baggy sweatpants that had seen better days. He was a slob right now, and Luke was here? On a Saturday? Why? His mind raced. Why hadn't Luke texted? How was he supposed to have a conversation with Luke looking like this?

Sam, noticing his alarm, chuckled. "Relax, it's not like he cares if you're dressed up or anything."

Alex groaned, running a hand through his messy hair. "I look like a total mess. Why didn't you warn me?"

"I didn't know I needed to warn you," Sam teased. "But if it makes you feel better, he looks just as good as always."

"Great. Perfect," Alex muttered sarcastically, standing up and glancing at his reflection in the mirror on his wall. He winced. There was no way to fix this quickly. "I can't believe this."

Sam shrugged, still grinning. "Well, he's waiting. Want me to tell him you're busy?"

Alex hesitated for a second, considering the option, but then shook his head. "No, it's fine. I'll... I'll talk to him."

"Good call. I'll leave you to it," Sam said with a laugh before disappearing down the hallway.

Alex quickly grabbed a new hoodie from his wardrobe. He quickly ran a hand through his wavy brown hair, straightening out his new hoodie as best as he could before taking a deep breath. It's just Luke. You've hung out before. It's fine. He's your friend.

But still, the nervousness lingered. Luke had a way of making his heart race, and now that Alex had feelings for him, feelings he was still trying to process, it was like everything was heightened.

With one final glance in the mirror, he opened the door and stepped into the hallway. As he made his way to the living room, his heart thudded in his chest, every step making him more nervous. When he turned the corner, there Luke was, sitting casually on the couch, looking as relaxed and effortlessly put together as always. His blonde hair was styled perfectly, and he was wearing a simple white t-shirt and black jeans, looking like he'd stepped out of some magazine.
