The wind howled outside, rattling the windows and filling the house with an eerie sound. Kenji, feeling a bit anxious about the storm, whispered to Riku as they tiptoed into the master suite. "Do you think Mommy and Daddy are awake?"
Riku, clutching his favorite toy, looked up at Kenji with wide eyes. "I don't know. But I'm scared," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
As they crept closer to the bed, Hana stirred, blinking sleep from her eyes. She was instantly awake, sensing the presence of her boys. "Hey, you two," she said softly, pulling the covers back invitingly. "What are you doing up so early?"
"Storm is scary!" Kenji replied, his voice a mix of concern and sleepiness.
"Yeah, it's loud," Riku added, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
Hana chuckled softly as she heard David's mumbling in his sleep. His deep snores filled the room, and his strange, nonsensical words made her shake her head in amusement. "Black peepee milk? Coconut water bottle poop?" she muttered, smiling to herself. "What are you even dreaming about?"
"Mommy, what did Daddy say?" Kenji asked, crawling into the bed and snuggling next to her.
"Nothing you need to worry about, sweetheart," Hana replied, stifling a laugh. "Daddy's just talking nonsense in his sleep again."
Riku, still holding his toy tightly, hesitated at the edge of the bed. "Can we stay with you, Mommy? The storm is too loud."
"Of course, you can," Hana said gently, patting the space next to her. "Come here, Riku."
As the boys settled under the covers, the storm outside continued to rage, the wind battering the windows. But inside the master suite, there was warmth and comfort. Hana wrapped her arms around her sons, feeling their small bodies relax against her.
David, oblivious to the storm and the new additions to the bed, mumbled again, "Toilet bowl soup... coconut... no more milk..." Hana sighed softly and shook her head, half wondering what kind of dream could produce such odd thoughts.
"Mommy, why does Daddy say weird things when he sleeps?" Kenji asked, now fully awake but comforted by the coziness of the bed.
Hana smiled and kissed his forehead. "I think Daddy's brain just gets a little silly when he's tired. Don't worry, he's perfectly normal when he's awake-well, most of the time."
The boys giggled softly, their earlier fear of the storm fading as they listened to David's occasional sleep-talking and felt the safety of their mother's embrace. As the wind howled outside, it was clear that no storm could touch the warmth and love that filled the room.
As David continued his comical sleep talk, he mumbled, "White lotus sticks, poopoo toilet paper salad, creamy cheese sauce eyelashes, poop plungers chicken nuggets, wash underwear cakes." With each absurd phrase, the boys erupted into fits of laughter, their earlier worries completely forgotten.
"What's a poopoo toilet paper salad, Mommy?" Kenji asked, giggling uncontrollably.
"I have no idea, sweetie," Hana replied, struggling to contain her laughter. "I think Daddy is just being very silly in his dreams."
Suddenly, David shifted in his sleep, unknowingly squishing the trio beneath his head. Kenji and Riku squealed in surprise, and Hana playfully pushed him away, trying to give the boys a bit more space.
"David! You're squashing us!" Hana chuckled, nudging him lightly.
In his slumber, David merely mumbled a grunt, rolling slightly to the side but still remaining blissfully unaware of the chaos he was causing.
